I was wondering, earlier this week I was driving a friend's Lotus and a pickup truck flew up behind me and glued itself to my ass for no reason... The "nice car" comments, general interest in the car, people taking pics while driving, ... I understand that. I was curious about negative attention that you guys have seen while driving your Vipers (or other high-end flashy cars). By this I mean you are minding your own business driving politely and someone seems to dislike you simply for your nice car.
LOL, no. Doing speed limit +7 on the city end of a country road (in an area known for police). But he did get (even closer) about 2' behind be when I had to cross the train tracks at about 3mph. Not like I cared about making him wait at that point. And left-lane banditry does not count as "polite" driving. That was my exact point, when you are minding your own business, NOT driving aggressively or anything, and someone acts negatively in a way that you don't think you'd get in a vanilla, grey 4 door sedan.
When I am out in the Viper, I get a lot of tailgaters and people who love to pull up real close at a stop. I had one women tailgating me for several miles and I was getting pissed, got to a light and said - why are you so fucking close? She just smiled and said - I just love looking at your ass and apologized Most times though when I get a break in traffic I just step on it and leave them far behind.
chilling in the left lane at any speed should make it legal for me to bump you. for being a fucking ass. get out of the left lane, I don't care if you are doing 150, move the fuck over if someone is behind you.
Agreed, it annoys me every time I get on the highway. But the whole left lane thing was from someone else. It was a two lane rural road and the guy sped up to get behind me and proceeded to ride my ass for several miles. Driving etiquette, (while a huge pet-peeve for me) is kinda missing the point of my question. (Which is why I am struggling to not add in my 2c about driving annoyances: people who don't yield and pull out and then go 5 under, people who constantly change speeds because they are fking with their phone, people who park in the left lane on the highway right next to and same speed as the only other person in the right lane... sh!t, I lost the struggle.) Perhaps I should have left off the circumstance that lead to my question, as it is seemingly steering the thread.
I get some douchebaggery every now and then. Not very often but it happens. If they are really aggressive it can be a little tricky to shake them. I just a few days ago had a ricer pull up on me on an in-city highway. Speed limit like 45 mph, enough traffic to make even considering racing pointless. I finally ended up shaking him off my ass by coming to a complete stop on what was by then 55 mph speed limit and forcing said douchebag to turn off into a business. But not before I blew by my stop as I realized he was just going to follow me and I would have had to punch him in the nose.
Summary: When you drive a red Gen 2 Viper you can stop wherever the fuck you want and people will approve. Even on a crowded highway.

Corvette forum approves of this thread. Coming up next:
"Post cool stuff people say to you when driving your Gen2 GTS Dodge Viper and rate the warm fuzzy feeling you get from 1 to 10".
Perhaps I have forum / automotive transference issues. Then again, my Vette and Z28 weren't as flashy (or expensive) as a Viper. Aside from a bit of brief engine revving race-baiting nobody really bothered me because you see those cars on any trip to anywhere. Not a brightly colored Viper. Won't change anything, I'm just wondering how many obnoxious people I will have to deal with (like some of these examples above). Yes, also please expand on this warm and fuzzy sensation. (That's not exactly the feel I get from this car, which is kinda the point of this car!)
The only negs I get is when I have to slow down to go over those mutherfucking cocksucking stupidfuck speed bumps all the candyass pussified mommies and daddies voted for because they think the whole fucking world has to tiptoe through life just for their fucking pussified kid.
