That's Dean's tracker. I've got 210,000 miles on my daily driver RT/10 with 10w-30. I think more important than weight is staying with synthetic and changing the oil every year or 5,000 miles (approx.), whichever comes first.

My tracker has 40K mostly track miles. It uses the same weight as my street Viper. It also had many, many more oil changes.

Just another perspective. Deano is the man!

I stopped by to drop off a t-stat and a new CAM BOLT. All the bottom end internals have been through the ultrasonic cleaner and look really spiffy! The block has just finished being lightly honed and things look fine for standard piston re-use. New rings and Clevite bearings are being ordered. (Sitting in the assembly area is a small block GT-40 motor. What a beautiful piece of work that billet crank and rods are!) My heads are waiting their turn for some modest work, along with a set of G3 rocker arms. To be continued...

Cam journals are being align-bored today and the heads are disassembled. Mike sent me some freshly ball-rubbed Gen 3 rockers for the top end. My builder said they look just like OEM LS-1 parts.

A service that 99.9% of vendors shamelessly neglect to include. Only Mike can get you the parts you WANT, scented the way you NEED.

Sweet smell of schweety balls.................. LOL.

Are they going to have to install cam bearings or will the journals still be good for the STD size?

So far, everything looks like it will clean up and fit back together just fine. (fingers crossed) Sending the cam out to have the pin precisely drilled out. Maybe fit it for offset pin or bushings to play with cam timing. 4 valves are bent for sure, will check the others pretty soon.

My builder keeps saying - "this motor's really in pretty good shape" - except for the obvious. He's pretty excited about the whole project even though it isn't getting any real go-fast goodies on it. He's known this car since he was a kid, watched me race Viper Days with it - and it's his first V-10 build. He apprenticed at Lozano Brothers Porting in SA for about 5 years building drag, endurance racing and historic motors. https://lozanobrothersporting.com/history.htm Now he's doing the same on his own.

Nice, while he's in there, might as well port, get the bigger cam to go along with the 1.7 rockers

Goal, hit 575 RWHP!!!

I think I would be really happy with 465 to the tires. On its very best previous dyno run, it made 421hp with K&N filters and a rear x-pipe. The same weekend, it ran 3 back to back 11:90s at 123-125 mph on Pilot MXX3s.. My true goal is to have fun at COTA and be ready for the Viper Days Reunion next summer!

The block is just about ready to bolt together now. The heads are disassembled and my bent valves are here for display. The #9 Intake is bent the worst of all, and that cracked the valve guide. These valves have unusually long stems, and Dodge is not stocking them any longer. I'm going with a new set of slightly oversized Manleys that will still fit the stock seats. My builder checked one OEM spring set and he said he couldn't believe how light they were on seat pressure. I'm going to use new bee hives for the Gen 3 rockers.

Yes - a port match and light pocket/guide work. I'm not looking for big flow numbers since I'm keeping the 708 cam, just smoother flow.

Dean, who do you book HPDE days with at COTA? I've seen a couple of CHIN listings for there, but was wondering if there's another track event organizer I'm missing

(Just Track It doesn't go there and that's mainly who I register with)

There was a group that had it booked last weekend but I don't know the name. A couple of friends were running, so I'll see what I can find out. I think Chin is there this weekend.

Still waiting on a few parts for the heads before they are done and the motor goes together.

I emailed Dan about a flash update for my JTEC to go with the mods. He said I was likely bumping the limits of what the Adaptive blocks can accommodate with a canned flash. He said to get the motor broken in well, then put it on the dyno for a couple of pulls. Once that's done, I'll plug in my DRB-III and provide the Adaptive block values, along with the dyno chart for him to evaluate before doing the bench update on a spare JTEC I have.

In the meantime, I've been VERY busy for 2 weeks with suspension and body panel adjustments. Suspension is done, the doors and hood are done; fascia and headlights are still an agonizing, iterative process.

My hat is off to you SIR!

I have so much PTSD working on alignments, I will literally drive at the pace just over "crawl" on shitty roads, and yes, I basically stop traffic when crossing railroad tracks.

I know that you already know, but it's worth bringing up here: all of my most effective adjustments to the hood/headlight/door/hood-to-rocker(sill) was done AT the core support.

Good luck Dean. YOU'RE definitely the one for the job!

I wouldn't have been able to do it myself without total and complete access to Dave6666's data plan.

I like that laser setup. I use a couple $7 lasers for my alignments.
