Considering this car, a 2001 TNT 655/955

Gents,

(First Post!) I am considering this car as soon as I get some surgery out of the way. I know a considerable amount about cars, but have never owned a Viper. I am hoping that you guys can help me not make a stupid decision! Here's the car, from where I originally found it advertised (it didn't meet reserve, and I was out of the country and missed final bidding):

Eh... I'm new so I can't post a link yet. Please do a Google search for:
ebay 1B3ER69EX1V704757, and you will see it advertised several times, and not selling.

My questions:
1) I have read a bit of stuff on TNT (much of it negative, unfortunately). The engine exterior looks nearly stock other than the oil pan and K&N intakes (that I have always disagreed with the hot air intake). I know it doesn't have the oft-seen TNT intake on it, but don't know if it was still used this year. How can I (best) ensure that the engine even is still the TNT engine?
2) The TNT 655: I don't see anywhere that the output is 655, and I kinda doubt it given that that's still well over 1hp / ci off of a naturally aspirated engine. Seller indicates it is 655hp, but I don't see that claim anywhere in the original TNT documentation. I know that output is possible, I just am not certain that the engine is there, and the TNT documentation is a bit sparse about the specifics of what was done, and while it says it was dynoed, that info is not provided.
3) Est. value of the car?
4) Thoughts on the interior wear regarding the 6100 original miles claim? I didn't question it, but someone else mentioned it and it made me nervous.

Anything else I'm not thinking to ask?

Thanks!
Mike

Reminds me of the "Snake Hydes" interior Chad had on his Heffner TT car years back. The car is very clean with low mileage but I'm not seeing it pull in his buy it now price. Lastly, TNT cars were known for running a little rich so ask about who tuned the car and what it has for a tuning system if anything other than stock with a piggyback added.

I realized the link above doesn't have the engine top pics to answer one of my questions. The most recent ad is under (enter into google search):
ebay 1B3ER69EX1V704757
click: "Dodge Viper GTS Coupe 2 Door" (Currently this is the second link that pops up. Can someone help me with that link, please (noob).)

Gives much better view of interior, plus top of engine. One of my big questions was... is this engine actually the TNT 655? For all I know it was pulled 10 years ago and this is a stock engine. (Though I assume TNT used the original block & heads, so the serial numbers should show at least that.)

$35k, $47k, $60k? (I have my idea, but don't want to affect anyone's answers.)

Thanks!
Mike

It looks clean as hell...reminds me of mine. The interior is fine, Dave has little taste in this area.

Looks like a Venzano interior. Definitely have it dynoed, with and without the NOS system.

Looks like a pretty clean car. If everything checks out I'd go for it. Interior wear doesn't look bad. I think the spots shown in the photos are more a result of the leather wrap closing up some of the tolerances between panels. I'd guess price probably somewhere in the mid-50's.

I also like the interior - but not a fan of yellow. I don't know what a TNT baffled oil pan is, but that looks like a stock pan from the outside. It's obviously possible the pan could be modified internally. The hood gaps don't match from side to side which may or may not mean anything.

I witnessed some truly scary "performance brake systems" that TNT put together. One even had 3 proportioning valves on it. They were pretty good fabricators and engine builders, but not very good engineers.

Did you miss the part on the first reply where I said get it on a dyno?

And don't worry about what others say of my tastes in interiors. Smeared with crayon colors is for mustangs and vettes bro

TNT built great motors and my dad had multiple packages from them. He started off at a 550 and worked his way up. Roy did a special package for him to compete with the 655, without boring and stroking it. Stock displacement my dad's Viper ended up having 677HP at the crank. This was on an independent dyno. I was in high school at the time and kids weren't talking about RWHP then, so I only know the crank HP conversion. It was very fast and had a nasty cam.

Unfortunately like most tuners, personal problems got in the way and he probably screwed customers and went out of business. I do think I remember him having some issues with the carbon fiber intake manifolds on his King Snake.

Yup. My dad had their brake package and originally their coil overs, before switching over to Penske. I do remember a lot of issues with the "upgraded" brakes. Some of the instructors at Texas World Speedway didn't want to drive it after.
