ouch, you guys that dont feel bad for the guy are not viper guys imo. This shit could happen to any of us here in a blink of an eye, so no need to knock someone who was simply having fun and not being a WINDBREAKER!!!!
I agree 100%!!
The MN VCA is/was run by me, Confrontational, Snake Bitten before he moved and now Snakebit (Mitch). I don't think any of us qualify as a "windbreaker"..
Not saying he's a windbreaker, and not saying he's not a nice guy. I'm just saying I don't feel bad for such a dumb maneuver. If it happened to me, I wouldn't expect any sympathy - in fact, I'd expect some good alley "tough love"
But would it pay for it if you crashed at the track? What is the difference???
Mine would, I believe, and many have. The only way your insurance can get out of paying is if it is specifically excluded in your policy. For example, some have exclusions about being in a "timed event", some have exclusions about being on any type of race track, etc. etc.
I think everyone I know who has wrecked at a ViperDays or other track event has had their insurance pick up the tab. The only one I know for sure that doesn't is Allstate and they have either specific language in the policy or they don't even cover Vipers at all anymore for the most part.
Can you imagine the guy at the 'dentless' place - "ummm, errr, ahhhh, thats a pretty good sized dent - let me give er a try"...
Actually, this guy has also totaled a blue/white many years ago up at BIR...
So, not sure how 'friendly' his insurance company is going to be...
I feel bad that he only had that car about a month - but - can happen to almost anyone... All of us have done something stupid - if not many times... Like drag racing on the city highway and nailing 2nd instead of 4th - or 3rd instead of 5th... That shit'll wake you up right now...
So, it is unfortunate, and hopefully the wifie doesn't come down too hard on him, but I think this will be the final straw with her...
Being one of the newbies, I have to ask...would a "windbreaker" be showing off like this?
It is sad whenever anyones Viper is damaged, severely or not, in a parking lot or not, after a club meeting or not.
I recieved a phone call last night from a friend of mine in Minneapolis telling me that He and his G-friend happened to be at Billibongs for dinner, and there was a shit load of Vipers in the parking lot. I told him that was just the MN VCA meeting, and you can see that every week there. Anyway, He calls me back 10 minutes later to tell me that some guy wiped out a lightpole in the parking lot, and damaged his Viper pretty bad.
I figured there'd be pix here today...........
I was right !!
Anyone I know ?? ( You can e-mail me with that info if I do )
P.S. --- Did he do any damage to the pole ?? I'm just asking to know if He's going to be liable for more than just his car.
P.P.S. --- Is He OK ?? What did he have to say afterwards ??
