My new to me 1992 and Plumcrazy Appreciation Thread :)
A 1992 Vin #79 surfaced, here on the forum a few months ago. This car was originaly spotted on Craigslist on Philidelphia of all places. Several of us contacted the would be seller who ended up not being the actual seller. After some outlandish claims that Carol Shelby might have owned this particular car most everyone backed away including myself. Although I was still quite sceptical I still wanted to vet the car a bit futher as I was in the market for a one owner first year 1992 Viper. I have owned Gen 3, 4, and now a Gen V and really wanted to pick up the car that started it all.
I have been looking for the right car for sometime and I thought this one was going to be another miss. Low and behold the owner gave me a call a few weeks ago and we began talking about the car again. The car was originally for sale at Woodbridge Dodge Inc. in New Jersey where it was kept back by the owner of the dealership and never titled from 1992 until Woodbridge Dodge Inc. went out of business. The car was eventually sold untitled at auction to another dealer in Linwood PA in later 2012 with no owners, stock, and 3,020 miles on the odometer. The car was then sold to it's first registered owner in December of 2012. The original owner kept the car bone stock and put another 6,000 miles on the car until I purchased it two weeks ago with 9,600 original miles on the car.
Still a little concerned about the cars pedigree I asked our wonderful (kissing his ass here) forum moderator, and friend Plumcrazy if he would mind swinging by and taking a look at the car just to make sure it was being accuratly represented. I got a call from Plum saying that the car was legit and that if I didn't buy it he would. We got the deal closed and the transporter picked the 92 and dropped it off in Texas Last Thursday Evening.
My initial review: This is the most fun I have had driving any of my four Vipers. This weekend in Texas was 70 degrees and sunny and I had the opportunity to take the car out on my local back roads and just do some light cruising getting to know the car and see how everything was functioning. I changed some of the fluids on Friday and Saturday and car drove wonderfully. No top or windows just the great weather, great roads, and an icon machine.
My goal with this car is to get it back to showroom new (won't take much) and drive it and display it when I'm not driving the TA. I will start some threads showing the paint correction and anything else that I do to the car.
So thanks so much Plumcrazy for being an excellent friend to another Viper guy and I can't wait to let you drive it next time you are in Houston.
