Have a 97 and the hood wont stay up, bought it this way, not sure why, very annoying. not sure what it needs, when the hood is closed, everything lines up nice. please help. thank you
Try degreasing the hood springs and pivot points. As ironic as that sounds, being lubricated is just too much. If that does not work replace the springs. I just did mine and do like the added springiness. Where are you located?

im located in houston tx, i tried spraying brake cleaner on the spring loaded hinges but that didnt do anything. which spring the big one or small one?
The big one at the bottom. Not the up where the hinge assembly attaches to the hood itself.
I would be hesitant to spray brake cleaner around. That can damage paint. I would get some plastic and cover the engine etc as much as you can, get some foaming engine degreaser from AutoZone or whatnot, and then hose the springs and all the hinge pivot points down. Let soak for a bit, and then rinse with a hose.
Of course if your engine bay is gnarly, maybe degrease it to i.e. leave the plastic cover off and make an afternoon of it.

whatever. you took daves exgirlfriend and banged her on the hood and now it jacked. nice work
Prop the hood full open and leave it for a week. It helps the springs to relax.
Given that mindset, would you say it is healthier for the springs to have the hood propped open whenever the car is sitting as to avoid future problems with the hood springs?

THIS ^^^ I used degreaser and it took a bunch of times but it works.
