Thanks again guys. I'm still at a disbelief from what I watched happen yesterday. And as for the PS cap, I've definitely had to tighten it down more than once. There were always two things that would come loose in the bay, the PS cap and one of the intake knobs. I literally made it part of my cleaning routine to re-snug those two down every time.

Seeing as there are quite a few "bin" parts on a Gen 2 Viper, and assuming the p/s pump is one of them, how come the donor car doesn't burn to the ground? At least enough so to roll the recall over to the Viper?

My guess would be more vibration and engine bay temperature swings than in a Dakota or whatever the donor is.

I saw a guy that put an inch wide section of bicycle inner tube (think thick rubber band) around the cap and neck of the pump to keep the cap from turning. Seemed like a good idea.
