sidsill insulation

Has anyone tried the roeracing insulation they offer to replace the factory material? I'm cat deleted and my side sills were extremely hot today. I know my stock insulation is ready to be replaced but I wanna find a more efficient fix. Hopefully something that will make installing the side sills easier aswell. Factory stuff takes up a lot of room with the borla mufflers in there. Makes it snugg

I still use stock stuff on mine and had my covers off 7 times or so. My insulation is not exactly perfect, but I will deal with the heat. You sound like you are ready to VCA forum :-)

There has been plenty written on the insulation wrap. When it gets wet it will retain moisture and promote corrosion. When it accumulates dirt and debris it can become flammable. Conceptually, why would you want to keep the heat in the pipe, as opposed to getting the pipe cooler by ventilation? There are plenty of options for venting the sills. I have cats, OE insulation, no wrap, and no heat.

The inconel shields appear to be available from thinkabbott dot com.

I looked into the inconel shields when I was replacing my exhaust. They were pretty damn expensive...$3K+. I thought my heat shields looked pretty bad, but the responses I got from knowledgeable viper guys was that they were fine...just looked bad...

Here ya go. Same stuff available here as well as some other options. You can view the various types of materials and characteristics. I've used some of the silica-based stuff with sucess.

I thought the theroy was by keeping the exhaust gasses high you increases flow and by wrapping the pipes you decrease radiant heat transfer, a win win.

Dyno it for me. Because yes, in theory, it flows easier.

Meanwhile, I'll take corrosion for $200 Jim. Back to wet dirty wrapped inaccessible pipes...
