............and the steering wheel and plastic ugly interior still looks like it's from a mid 1980's k-car.

Okay I'll give the white pro instrumentation Drag-Pack gauges a nod, but the rest of the production street challenger interior blows gay-balls.

My issue with the car is the stock power of that N/A set up and the fact you can add any forced induction without lowering the compression. That 512 V10 is hopped up to make 800+ HP but wheres that going to get you at the track with a big car like that even if it is striped down more then a production car. Yeah I know, obviously they can't go around selling some 1700+ TT setup but if you're going to compete like they say the car is made for then you're going to need more under the hood plain and simple.

they will run 9's as is. some guys are rumored to be able to hit 8's but i cant confirm it.
you cant hardly build a car for this price. pretty damn cool concept and it fits within the concept of the NHRA class it was designed for.
its cool and it will be very collectable some day. the only crappy thing is it doenst have a VIN, so it would be hard to plate it and cruise the local strip and do some street racing

it was designed for NHRA racing going against ford and chevy, to bring more folks into it. just like back in the 60's and 70's. i could see someone like 1fast400's dad competing one these and spanking mustangs and camaros.
there isnt a class for the power level you descirbed and still be a door slammer OEM car.
this is for the guy to buy and race with min. expense and upkeep. put gas in it and go

It is for nhra class racing which you know nothing about v4c. This car is purpose built for nhra class racing. Most guys dump 50-100k into it after they get the car. Nhra racing is a game played by millionaires.

You can't be competitive in NHRA without dropping MAJOR dollars. Even on the stocker level, it is expensive. In super stock, it's worse. Walk through the pits at Indy US Nationals and the amount of money in the sportsman pits is scary. These drag pack cars have totally ass fucked the guys with older REAL cars. These are purpose built cars meant to screw up all the index's. These guys are tuning these cars back to keep weight from being added. NHRA is a VERY complex animal to run, where running too fast is a VERY bad thing. One guy could take a car and fuck the entire class for everyone. Imagine spending well into 6 figures and some guy goes to a track way below sea level, doesn't realize it and goes 1.50 under the index (meaning EVERY car in country with that combo has to add weight). It's a huge political cluster. Ford is worse with their supercharged combo's. These challenger v10's should have never been allowed

yeah , but couldnt say the same thing at various times througout history?
Ford thunder bolts, ZL1's , OEM's acid dipping the body, etc.
at least the oem's are interested in even making the cars. i thought real hard about buying the challenger because its been since the 60's they have had something that cool.
i do agree it should be heads up and the NHRA has too many stupid rules and clauses.

No, these cars were purpose built and have stupid power levels. You have guys that have spend decades supporting NHRA that got ass fucked as soon as these things came out. Guys in NHRA spend YEARS getting their combo up to the index limit. These drag pack cars allowed someone to cut a check and reset the record. Once that was done, the previous cars were screwed as they had no ability to pick up more power, while the drag packs cars did. It was an attempt to bring in a new generation into the NHRA ranks. The problem, not many "kids" have the bucks it takes to run and run near the top.

For those that don't know, NHRA stock and and super stock is basically a bracket race. Meaning you predict your ET and run as close to it as possible without going under. These races are put on a ladder, so qualifying position is VERY important. The only time the race becomes "first man to the finish line", is if you run someone that is in your class. They allowed these cars to fall into the same class as 40+ year old cars. None of the old cars can compete against the new, it's impossible. So regardless of how good of a racer you are, if you ran against one of these, you were fucked.
