Do Vipers suffer any fuel starvation when road racing?

Vipers, like most modern cars, use a canister around the fuel pump to store a little reserve fuel to help accomodate the pump when the fuel is sloshing away to the sides of the tank while taking hard turns. The Viper has something like a 5" diameter setup and its pretty deep, so its displacement is a bit greater than most cars.

Do any of you that road race your Vipers ever experience fuel pressure surges/starvation when coming onto the throttle exiting a high G turn?

Nope. No issues when I've been on the track.

No fuel starvation in the Gen II and the Gen IV I tracked and that's on the fastest track in the West WSIR, oil starvation is a seperate issue.

Never experienced that on a Gen II, nor heard of any fuel starvation issues for others? I know oil starvation popped up some in the Gen III's.

Thanks for the replies guys. I asked because we manufacture some components that resolve that issue for other platforms and figured I would double check that Vipers do not need anything for it. In many years around Vipers, I had never heard of it... but figured I may as well ask if anyone else had.

Yes the oil starvation in the Viper is something pretty easy to see. The oil pan has such a large flat floor plan with no real sump area... so fluid placement control within it is going to completely suck. Ive installed the comp oil pans before with the swinging pickup arm, quite the little contraption. I have never seen that done otherwise but it appears to help. Accusumps definitely have a place in the Viper.

There may be a place for a oil pan using flapper baffles etc, but I am not so sure that is going to resolve the issue since the depth of the pan is so shallow.

Yeah in my frequently tracked 2000 Gen II I had the trapdoor/baffle "pick-up" setup and had no problems, even on race tires. One of the reasons is my '00 had a 10 quart oil pan, I seen a few '97 Viper put a whole in their block because they were only 7 quart pans, not a pretty sight.

I just read a nice tech thread on the Alley and now I do not check my oil until there is a lil engine noise. You guys worry too much.
