Yep...in fact there is a guy on YellowBullet who is going to take his big-block, turbo'd 4th gen to the mile next year after a gear swap and tire change.
Nobody is really going to car about that.
I stand by my original statement. Watch the TYPE of cars change as these platforms come to the race. There will still be a line to get into the event, it will just have more non exotic's in it. Doesn't make it better or worse, just different.
Tiago, I made my cost reference to drag racing. Nobody cares about an 8 second F body. If a lambo went out and ran an 8, there would be talk everywhere about it. Just a different group, that's all. I can go buy 8-7 second mustangs all day on racing junk for less than the cost of a bolt on kit for a lambo.
I'm not saying the camaro isn't impressive, it is. Anyone willing to go to those speeds has huge balls. As those cars come, it will just change the event. In 2013, the event will be less than 5% exotics. It was really cool to see exotics being pushed to their limit. Something you don't normally see. Seeing a chevy/ford being pushed, just isn't as exciting to some.
Holy shit, fuck running on that track. That place needs to be repaved correctly badly!!
I hit 135-138 MPH on slicks at 8 PSI on a shitty track in the shut down area and that was scary enough for me..... I hit 180+ on the "road" and that was bad too 230+ well better you than me, I will hit 200 this year in Mexico I think with my top down but not sure if I will have the balls to hold it there for more than a blast.
Are you 12? Read what I wrote instead of letting the 5 brains cells you have try to interpret as something other than what I said. I never said the event will suck, I said it will be different. Comprehend more, post less, it will work out better for you.
Fuck you talk a ton of shit. Dude I love the UGR stuff, but frankly they were starting to act like nothing street driven could touch their stuff.
Even though I would never aspire to own the LMR F-Body that could possibly take the record, I can respect the fact that they stepped up and took it specifically to UR.
The complete package that is a UGR TTG or TT Murci is untouchable for a street car in my opinion, but I don't get the attitude of "oh since an F-Body holds the record the event sucks."
At this point I don't think UR has anything to prove to anyone.
They are not the only TUNER trying to get the Texas mile record from the TT Gallardo. They are the only tuner talking as from one of the videos they posted. They said they were going to take that record down 2 events ago, but it didn't happen. The Texas mile record is still held by the Underground Racing TT Gallardo at 250.1. Its also the first and only car to do 250 mph in the mile, where it counts, in Texas. I'm sure someone will beat the 250.1 soon, just a matter of time. We set out to show that we are the fastest "Gallardo" Tuner which we did and the "Gallardo record" if needed I will personally protect in my car, if no customer is interested.
So in short, if another Gallardo tuner wants to compete for the record, we will be back.
As far as a TT Gallardo getting beat on the street? Of course its possible. But running a Stage 3 Race Version ALL WHEEL DRIVE with 1300-1950 WHP from a 60-200 MPH roll? Going to be tuff for anything to come close unless the Gallardo has a parts failure.
So is this still the line up in Texas?
TT Gallardo ............250 MPH
Ford GT.................. 249
