I took my ZR1 there as well for a private rental. There were a total of 5 ZR1's including that LPE ZR1. The 4 ZR1's were completely stock which includes my car. The 4 stockers all ran 10.80's-10.90's on 20" Michelin Pilots when we could get the launch right. They were all in the 130-133mph range. The best run in my car was [email protected]

The LPE ZR1 was very impressive. They did change 1st gear ratio in the trans to the Z06 2.66 in lieu of the ZR1 2.29.

I thought so as well. I believe they eliminated the converters, but that trap was crazy for the mods.

K, so when is someone gonna pull their panties outta thier vagina and strap on a pair of headers, toss in a nice big cam, and port those heads? We'd be seeing a mid 150 mph car, on the stock blower.

It will be interesting to see what difference it makes. The headers haven't made massive improvements on the ZR1s, just as I predicted. Granted, as the power gets higher, the stock manifold flow will become more of an issue. You can get a little out of the heads, but I doubt they're much of a restriction. Most gains the Z06 guys saw from the heads came from the extra point of compression they got more so than the flow. Compression may not help a Zr1 unless they are running race gas, then game on in that case. You could probably go a little lopier on the cam, although we all know that huge cams aren't really a supercharger's best friend. It might hurt the low end enough to nullify the advantage, given the importance of a good 60 foot.

I am more excited to see someone bolt on an APS twin turbo setup with the turbos running maybe 7 psi of boost. It seems to do a nice job on the Ford GTs. If the engine compartment is too crowded (quite possible), maybe the STS system would do nicely, given that backpressure vs. turbo spool issues are somewhat nullified by the supercharger.

I agreed with everything you said there until you mentioned APS. Never ever deal with that shit hole of a company. Fucking bastards will rip you off.

And I say this even as I have a APS turbo, CAI, Turbo inlet, fuel rails on my STi.

They ripped off a bunch of domestic turbo guys about a year ago. When I dealt with them they were still a good company but I would never touch anything they sold today.

My friends car also ran in the 140's with headers, pulley & tune. Stock everything else including the stock rear mufflers. These cars really do run.

I'm pretty sure you'd pick up the 4.3mph needed for a 150 mph trap with all those mods.

After that, change the blower or port the stock blower intake mani.

And APS is shit! They're ripped off tons of people on LS1tech, and aren't offering kits to fbody owners anymore. They've sold members crap parts. Turbos that puke oil on start up, intake hoses that suck shut after 10 psi and not offering a solution or fix for it, parts that don't line up, and an intercooler that blocks all flow to the radiator leaving many cars over heating even in spring/fall weather.

Sal, I heard from the driver they were having problems with 4 th gear. The problem was they could not shift it smoothly .... all other gears could be speed shifted.
They think there is lower numbers attainable.

I absolutely agree with your acessment of picking up 4 or 5 mph. I just don't think it will do as much as some would imagine. But certainly more power would be made, as you have suggested.

I'm sad to hear that about APS. Everyone I have spoke to about their kits seemed to love them as well as the shop owners to whom I have spoke. This is the first bad press I've heard about them. Sounds like it was all recently too. It's a shame, because from everything I could see, their kits were as near to an OEM level turbo system as anything I have seen.

That's correct Ward. The driver was not lifting the throttle for the shifts and the first 3 passes he could not get the trans to shift into 4th. Graham @ LPE was thinking there is a synchro issue going on preventing the 3-4 shift from occuring without lifting the throttle. The 9.81 and 9.86 passes he lifted for the 3-4 shift.
