I can bet more viper owners will invest in the hoosier tires!

They sure were hooking good yesterday. But I don't think they make a 18" Hoosier with enough of a sidewall for me to not bang off the rev limtiter well before the 1320' mark.

Right at 5900 rpm with the 345x35x18 M&H's....28" tall. With my 18" BFG's, I'm banging off the rev limiter at 6200 rpm

Yea, the hoosiers would be to short. On the other hand, M&H's are good drag tires.

Yeah, I just need to launch with more rpm. With a 1.5 60', I should be good for a low 9.x, if not a high 8.x with a bit more boost.

I agree. But I don't get why some of the more "notables" in attendance were so damn pissy, stand-offish and socially inept at/away from the track.

What kind of half shaft did you break?

Did you break the CV joint or the actual shaft?

I'm still on stockers and I'm going to buy some upgraded shafts for myself over the winter. Just trying to figure out what's working and what's not.

Thanks

That was a great race, hats off to Ward for running it out and nipping me up top.

A drag race does not get any better than that.... to have lead change 3 times in a race, is an adrenaline junkie's fix. Cudaman, then Snorman, then Cudaman.

The Prostreet was impressive because it was done by it's owners driving their own cars, no hired guns in these races. Matt's race and mine was outstanding and a blast too.

I broke the direct replacement MW shaft, at the CV cage. I'm sure they'll do the right thing, since they're less than a week old.

Most definitely with a better 60ft. you will hit low 9's or high 8's.
It's just sometimes it's hard to find your self launching your baby hard. LOL! All kinds of stuff flashing in your mind, half-shafts, clutch, and ect.

still pulled off a nine second pass! So enjoy it bro. see you all in march!

That's going to be my problem when I put a bottle on the car.

Sean you were the driver of the day. You drove the shit out of your car and never missed a beat.

By the way your son is adorable. He came over to me yesterday to take a few pics. You have a little man on your hands that might get bit with that disease called " The Need for Speed".

Klly had some high trap speeds going for him. Good driving

Colby and Kirk I really enjoyed watching you to go back and forth

Cooled off a bit and replaced a snapped Unitrax halfshaft, then went 10.033 @ 143.33 (6.545 @ 113.00 in the 1/8th) and hotlapped a 10.043 @ 140.97 (6.504 @ 111.71 1/8th). Short times on those passes started at 1.69 and ended up at 1.56).
For eliminations, I had a bye, but ran it out. I bogged slightly out of the hole and only ran a 10.40. I hot lapped it and lined up with Ward. He got me out of the hole on a .112 to my .371. I got him most of the way down the track (1.532 to 1.767 60 ft., 6.407 to 6.824 1/8th, 8.319 to 8.651 1000'). He came around me about 30-40' feet before the traps. That was a great race, hats off to Ward for running it out and nipping me up top.
I cooled the car for about 15 minutes and ran two more passes. First pass went 9.935 @ 140.47 (6.449 @ 111.05 1/8th) and hotlapped a 9.953 @ 138.61 (6.434 @ 109.43 1/8th). 60 foots on those passes was 1.498 and 1.487 respectively.
Had I gotten a chance to let the car cool off a bit more later in the day, I have little doubt it would have gone 9.7's in the 143-144 mph range. It took me Friday and Saturday to realize how hard I can launch on these Hoosiers. ***EDIT***NOT BFG's
The car didn't miss a beat all weekend. I ran it Friday and Saturday and made 16-passes (I think).

great pass congrats im not triing to start anything here but how can boostalmightys car have 117 in the 1/8 and your car with heads and headers and more rwhp only have 111? does he have spray on the car or what? both cars are underground cars so there shouldnt be any question about setup. and even with a slower 60' that doesnt make much difference in trap speed infact when you spin you in effect make the track longer and get a higher trap.

Chris definitely extracts every ounce of power out of his car. He ices the shit out of the entire engine, intercooler, etc.. While I iced mine too, it was nowhere near what he was using. He sprays his intercooler with nitrous, externally before every pass to freeze the core. He was also running a 17" DR to my 18" and CCW skinnies up front (he's also probably about 40 lbs. lighter than I am ). My car actually ran 113+ at the eighth on a few passes. As I recall, Chris ran 115 or 116 at the 1/8th on his 9.56.

I honestly don't know how much hp his car is making. I know what mine made, and it actually made a bit less with the shortblock than it did with the stock motor and JM heads due to the 8.5:1 compression.

He's very adament that there is no spray on the car, and although a few of us bust his balls about it. I guess we believe him.

oh i see its not really apples to apples he does get alot from his car if he isnt spraying. my best 1/8 was [email protected] but on my [email protected] i had a [email protected] and i couldnt get better than a 1.8 because of a bad clutch. i only have spray but know i want a paxston to add to my spray.

Congrats to all that ran their cars and maybe got a new best!

Boostalmighty's 60ft is insane..... I never seen a car launch like that on such minimal setup.

So he has nitrous but he doesn't have nitrous. I get it. makes sense.

either way, your boy should have a full warranty on that motor so it'll be back in no time.

congrats on running consistent 9's. That is very cool!

I guess you don't understand...
He sprays the outside of the intercooler with nitrous, holding the bottle in his hand, before his passes to cool off the intercooler core.
That does not constitute running nitrous.

either way, your boy should have a full warranty on that motor so it'll be back in no time.

congrats on running consistent 9's. That is very cool!
If Underground Racing had built the motor, I'm sure they would take care of it. If Chris hurt his bone stock motor with his own tuning or some kind of additional power adder, I don't know what warranty would take care of that.

That's not the first time you've brought up the warranty issue, either. I'm not sure what you're getting at, but it certainly doesn't sound like your concern is genuine. It kind of just looks like pot stirring.
