"NO FLY ZONE" - Airport roll race event 3/2/12

Hi everyone.
I'm pleased to officially announce "No Fly Zone", an airport runway roll racing shootout. This will be a private all day, side by side, half mile roll racing event. Participants will line up, roll to a predetermined speed and punch it at a defined "START" marker, and race down the runway for one-half mile until they come up on a defined "STOP" marker. As many runs as you can manage throughout the day, against anyone you want to match up with. No cops, no cross traffic, no speed limits. Take it off the roadway and to the runway!

This event will not be open to the general public for spectating. Only registered participants, their "pit crew" and event sponsors will be allowed. We will be capping the event to 100 vehicles. Anyone and everyone is welcome to sign up. We will have open shakedown runs, grudge match runs and a "best of" elimination style tournament. This tournament will be broken down into 3 categories, JDM, Euro and American. Working on an official E-flyer for the event, but i wanted to get the word out now.

So come get your shakedown runs in before TX2k13, come grudge match against your buddy, or just come run your ride for fun!

For registration, questions or sponsor queries, please feel free to email:

Here is a list of the PAID registered people. Plenty of other people than want spots held, including about 5 more from Vegas, and a couple dozen more from SoCal... but I only list the PAID ones. Horsepower left out on purpose

Found the place on GoogleEarth. It's about a 4500' runway. If an actual half-mile race is preceeded with any significant rolling distance to get up to speed, then it might be a bit short on available shut-down/braking distance... especially for the faster cars.

the runway is billed at 4501 ft. That's between the numbers. The same pavement extends for the approach zones, 200 feet on either end to a total paved length of 4901. Granted, i would love to use Mojave or some other 10k + ft airfield... but this will still be fun

Thanks for the tip, coupe!
