Ron, if you think about it, what a way to go...living (doggie) life to the fullest up to the very end. It's a much more fitting way to leave this world than to go through months of suffering. He had fun right to the very end...just the way I'm sure many of us want to go when it's time.
Remember the past, enjoy the present. Love the new doggie.
