The Viper has never had a traction system, and as long as Herb Helbig is on the project, it never will.
Please show us any test showing the PS2s are worth .3 sec. Bobby Archer doesn't even recommend them over the PS1s on a road course.

The Viper has been the American king since I've been in high school.. Hell almost 20 years now.
Vettes ? Nice cars, many amenities, fun, fast, user friendly etc...
However, the Viper has always been ' the beast' , ' the animial ' ....
This car has to be the ultimate animal in the U.S. period.
I think the SRT guys realize this and when the mags. hit the shelves the Vette sales and the Z06 guys ( their balls will shrivel up like chick peas ).
The Vette is a civilized, every day fast car.
The Viper, is an uncontrollable animal that says to me, the driver is a sick fuck and wants to live on the edge.
If this ever changes, then I feel the Viper has lost what it was made for.
The 2008 car will dominate !!!
This whole ' blue devil' haushit, I'll believe it when I see it.
Bottom line, to anyone who's listening, the Viper has to go down as THE fastest, sickest American car ever made...
At that point, let it retire, but NOT until that is acknowledged, IMO.

Yes. Production for the '08 models will start on July 9th and run until July of '08, a standard 12-month model year. 2009 models start production a year from this August and will most likely be the final year for the "ZB" generation.

BTW....As much as Im lusting over the 08 Viper..Im no fool...
The 08 viper will pull the current c6z06 by around 2-4 mph.Make no mistake..
But we all remember what GM did back in 2002 with the Z06..A slightly different cam profile allowed the 2001 c5Z06 to go from trapping 113-115 mph to 115-117 mph in 2002..

Yea dont fuck with him Nerd..
Honestly their have been other stories of peole who pulled stock C6Z06's their stock SRT10's..
And their have also been head to head magazine test were the SRT10 ran a tenth faster..
As well as magazine test were the SRT10 pulled a slightly faster lap time..
Ive seen head to head test were the C6Z06 trapped 2 mph higher and test were it trapped 4 mph higher..
I think it really boils down to luck of the draw...
Youve got some SRT10's dynoing 438 and some like the poster a few above dynoing 464 rwhp...
Youve got some C6z06's dynoing 440 and some hitting 460..
have a guy with a 460 rwhp dynoing SRT10 run in to a guy with a 440 rwhp dynoing c6Z06 and you have a race between a 123 mph trapping SRT10 and a 125 mph trapping C6Z06..
Viper could defiently win this race..
Have a guy with a 460 rwhp C6Z06 run into a guy with a 440 rwhp trapping SRT10 and now you have a 126 mph trapping C6Z06 vrs a 121 mph trapping SRT10...
In this race the C6Z06 will walk away..
Just really depends. Id put my money on the C6Z06 but man this guys 464 rwhp SAE Viper SRT10 a few post up could defiently put a hurting on a stock 445 rwhp C6Z06..
Id really love to see sadistic and his friend go to the same dynoand have them both do base line dyno's. This would tell a lot..
ESPECIALLY since the C6Z06's are getting heavier and slower. the last review I read on a 2007 had it close to 3200 pounds.

Apparently this liitle boy got all upset and started leaving negative reputation comments for people on this thread. No idea why, but obviously has some issues.

Videos?? LMAO!! I live in the real world and own a real Viper, magazine nerd.
Typo, my balls. Admit that you are a 14 year old dreamer, with a matchbox collection being as close as you have come to owning a car. How come I never make a typo like that? You don't know shit, pee weiner. You still have 3 or more years to perfect your masturbation skills before you will be considered a man. Now, go back to bed and tug on that little, 3 inch peach fuzzer and stay off the Viper forum. Your dad's mustang doesn't quite give you the key to the Viper ballroom.

Some of you dipshits need to stop writing "'07 Viper". There isn't an '07 and it is confusing to knowledgeable members whether you mean an '06 or an '08.

Actually, ALL SRT10 Vipers (2003-2006) are correctly rated at 510 HP. The engines didn't change at all in 2006 - the way they measured the horsepower did. So while your window sticker and magazines said 500 HP, the reality is that with the current SAE measuring it is 510. Therefor, your 442 RWHP was actually a 13.33% driveline loss assuming the factory rating is correct (unlikely). The SRT10's dyno bone stock all over the place, so trying to determine driveline loss based on the factory rating is moot. Mine dyno'ed at 464 RWHP and 504 RWTQ originally.

How many of these comments come from first hand comparisons? 10 to 1 that virtually no one in this thread (other than an obvious few) has actually any first hand experience relating to this topic other than what they read or head from the second cousin's college roommate's father.
Sheesh. The Alley has been reduced to magazine review debates!

the 08 viper should outrun the Z06 by about the same margin as the Z06 currently puts on the Viper.
I expect the new viper to run about 4mph faster traps than the Z06. ETs are heavily driver dependant but given the right conditions and driver we should see a few 10 sec times with the '08.

stock vs stock...the c6z06 beats the 07 viper not by much... The difference is very negligible. A toss up I think since driver error and track conditions etc can play a part. But the new '08 viper should beat on the c6z06. Not by much but enough to declare a win. I think 2-3 cars in 1/4mi.

i would be very surprised to see the 2008 Viper SRT run much quicker than that.

I agree completely that the bump in power alone is not going to put the '08 into the 10s. But once you factor in the better trans/clutch, adjustable suspension, PS2s and better rear, I think it has a shot.
If a 564 rwhp Supra weighing in 110 lbs more than a Viper can go 10.9s on a set 255 x 17 SO2s (with completely stock suspension and rear), I have to believe the '08 Viper with all it's improvements can do it on 535 rwhp.

I was using my own '04 as an example. The '04 was rated at 500 hp even. Mine dyno'd 442, bone stock. This seems to be about the average. 500 at the flywheel to 442 at the wheels translates to 11.6% loss.
