I paid around $48K for a 97 B/W and felt it was a deal after looking all summer. It had nearly 17,000 miles on it, the original Pilots (a minus), and it wasn't super detailed. It was a great car that I immediately made better by detailing it correctly, replacing a front wheel that was dinged up (I wound up dinging that same wheel the second day I had it in an over zealous driving incident) and I wound up fixing the AC.

After looking as long as I did, this was the least expensive B/W GTS I found and I felt I was lucky. I did make sure to check not only CarFax, but also with the Dodge dealer network. The Dodge guys can tell you what's in their database for repairs and often their database was WAY more help than CarFax. I was saved from a lemon of a GTS after CarFax checked out fine but the Dodge database showed tons of engine repairs and leak repairs on the car.

As far as high mile DD Vipers go, I really didn't see any. For one, there weren't that many B/W GTS' for sale over a 5 or so month period before finding one I bought. I probably did research on a total of only 5 or 6 cars. Only one of those had more than 30K miles - keep in mind we're talking about 96/97 only. My guess is that not many Vipers are daily drivers.

What was the specifics on the car and what did u end up paying?

I don't mind a high mileage car at all. I would rather have a 75K GEN II car that a conservative old man drove around as a DD, over a 10K racer that was "shot up" and raced on Saturday mornings and spooged in on Saturday nights!

When I was shopping for a b/w 96 or 97 over Summer, finally purchasing one in September, I was seeing prices in the high $40K to low $50K. I was seeking something pretty specific though, low mileage 96 or 97 B/W.

KBB is a great tool for dealers to low ball people on trade in Manhiem is the ONLY good indicator on what a car should sell for. As soon as you tell a dealer throw away the blue book and tell me what the car sells for on Manhiem watch them start getting flamed.

KBB's about 10K off of what they are actually selling for. 96-99's are selling in the low to mid 40's for decent examples.

Where are recent GTS final sales prices ending up? Are they somewhere between asking prices and final price regardless of Kelly blue book prices? It seems that Viper asking prices (model years 96-99) are way above the low 30's that the blue book has them at. Even examples w/ as much as 40K or more miles on them. Are these cars actually selling near the asking prices? Now you do see some early 90's cars listing in the low 30's but no GTS's unless they are salvaged or involved in a bogus ad.
