I run CTEK on my Lambo. Could easily run the plug through the cabin vent near the amp.
On the Viper, I run a small cut-off switch on the parcel shelf.

Never had a problem in the driving months so only use tender in the winter. Disconnect the positive cable under the hood then connect the tender , .75amp. to the end of the positive cable and to the negative post also under the hood. This eliminates any possibility of a draw on the system. Have never had a problem. 2002 GTS

I hooked up a battery tender to my 96. Worked great.
Ran the plug out through the "gill". Did not need to open my hood every time to plug in.

Had a problem with my 99 GTS. Battery went dead, and wouldn't charge. Turned out the ground post had some surface corrosion, enough that it wasn't making contact, so battery wouldn't charge. Wire brushed post, and connectors, and everything is fine now.

I take the batteries out of my cars and place them on a clean work bench. Make sure there’s some ventilation in room if you do this. There is a tender brand name is Battery Tender model 75a I believe. It has WiFi and sends messages to your iOS or Android devices if voltage drops. I’ve heard good things. Best bet is an Optima battery as the other gentleman recommended. I have them in both my ‘94 RT-10 and ‘96 Porsche 993 C4. I live in New England and am accustomed to winter cold. I’ve gone through quite a few batteries and tenders through the years. Optimas are worth the extra price. Hope this helps.

I have this one that I got at o'reilly. I have one on 6 different cars. Never had one of these go bad but can't say that about others. Wired it with a permanent connection to the posts in the engine compartment and ran the line back by the door so it gets plugged in at that location when it's not being used. My battery was always low without a battery tender.

I've been using https://www.batterysaver.com/ for over 10years. Connected directly to the battery with pig tail secured to the battery hold down. I just connect the cord thru the diffuser.

I have 4 battery tenders, battery tender brand. They have never given me an issue ever

Battery tender brands usually have a light showing that its charging properly. Mine changes color when battery is fully charged. Got it used, still going strong

I have a 96 also and had the same problem a few years back. Issue turned out to be a loose ground somewhere. No issues since.

Check hood switch and hatch strut switch to make sure they're working as intended. Also ensure the alarm can be armed and trips when you try to open a door with the window down.

I have a Schumacher unit I got a super long time ago when Walmart sold them. Attached to the posts in the front, battery is a yellow top optima. I'm going almost 10 years on this battery.
A month ago I tried a legit Battery Tender, and it damn near caused a thermonuclear meltdown. After an hour I measured the battery temp at 160 degrees. Tried it on a second battery and same thing.
I do drive my cars at least once per week though. That probably helps.

Before I moved permanently to Panama, I would leave my GTS in the parking garage at my condo for 3 months at a time. I would come back and it would fire right up like it had only been 1 day. It's weird to hear about all these batteries going dead after a few months storage.

Same here. Been running same $19 Schumacher units on my GTS and my Harley now for MANY years.

That’s how I have it hooked up. It is a two bank “battery tender” brand that I have hooked up to an antique car on the other side and is charging just fine. Have switched the cables so I know that’s not it. Bad ground?

I'm curious too. Mine just developed a drain that I haven't been able to diagnose. I would assume you could connect to the post under the hood and just make sure you have a good ground.

Trickle Charger question / installation
Hi - I have a 96 gts. Have owned for multiple years. Live in northeast so it gets tucked away for winter. Battery always dies and I have to replace. I installed a trickle charger on the jump post this summer but it is not charging. Battery is now dead. Any suggestions or thoughts? I was going to hook directly to battery but didn’t want to drill any holes.
Thanks in advance. Note: I searched board but didn’t find anything.
