EllowViper In another post, I just dropped all USAA policies (Home and auto) and bundled with Progressive....to include the Viper policy. Got all five cars 250/500K liability and 100k stacked for $2800/6 months. USAA/American Classic was $4400.00/ 6 month. Homeowner coverage is now $1199 per year and USAA was $3700. Progressive had better homeowner coverage too. Now granted I don't have an agreed upon value policy anymore, but hell its just a 2001 Dodge with 60K miles...not really THAT special of a vehicle. Drive it and enjoy this piss out of it.

I just got a quote from Grundy, which comes out to $644/year for 45K Agreed value, BUT....they don't seem to let me choose the liability limits. It's only providing me with 100K Liability and 35K Uninsured bodily injury (California)

xxmetal Damn I should start shopping around. I'm paying 2.6k a year for my GTS. Granted, I'm 21 and it's my only daily--in hail country--but I had just assumed that USAA was the way to go.

encoupejas My first insurance was at the age of 22 because before I could not afford it due to lack of financial resources but I understood that it is necessary in order to protect your car from expensive repairs. My brother was already an experienced driver and advised me moneyexpert.com who helped with all the documents and advice about my vehicle insurance. This is very convenient because you no longer pay huge bills for a breakdown and you stay calm during an accident. I think that at the age of 16 to get car insurance is very worthy

EllowViper So I got my revised policy for the three remaining cars I have with USAA....and 'wala' again...my adjusted policy did not go down the $3400 that the Viper policy was costing me but only $1600 dollars... since the premiums for the other three cars now went up a total of $1800 per year!! WOW. Talk about BS. My net savings is still $600 per year but talk about a crock of shit USAA.

"Irregardless", I'll have to try that option when my USAA policy comes due.

Ramtuff I’m sorry sir, the extra $2300 we tried to get out of you caused a bit of memory lapse......

So funny thing....I was talking to USAA letting them know State Farm was going to beat their pants off with car coverage for all my vehicles to include a home policy as well. I referenced this American Collectors option and they said "Oh yeah...we have them as a partner and underwriter...would you like to get a quote from them?" Well no shit USAA. So they connected me and wala..I now have $50k agreed upon policy with 300/500k coverage and a few other bells and whistles for $1018 per year. 2500 mileage limit. Unfreaking believeable that USAA won't volunter that option after going back and forth with me stating they couldn't do anything on my Viper policy @ $3400 per year. Just shaking my head with USAA....gotta love um to hate um.

No, never was asked for updated mileage statements. Sold the car last Dec, 5 years covered this way.

Uh, that would be the time that one would NOT want there to be issues.

pj Interesting story. USAA was created to serve the needs of pilot service members who were buying expensive sports cars and needed affordable insurance.

Brickhead Insurance = prob the biggest financial fuc show on the planet, except of course the $neakin' Deacon scam...
May 20th, 2019 11:51 AM
RobV Not sure if they still do this, but we signed a form stating the newly licensed driver in the home would not drive any of the cars when we asked for quotes and it was way, way, way too high to include them even as an occasional driver.

EllowViper Ok. State Farm it is. $118.00 per month. For some reason, when I went back to review the GEICO quote, it jumped to $2000 per year. Hummmm.
May 20th, 2019 07:15 AM
EllowViper I had State Farm as a kid...I think my parents still do...so I might circle back with them just to see what they say. Its been interesting doing this research. GEICO will cover for around $1200 per year with a good policy; but not agreed upon value.

I love USAA's personal service and how they bend over backwards to take care of their customers, but I can't rationally keep that Viper policy with them.
I'm in the same boat with USAA, love everything else about them but Vipers need to move off of them soon.

AJ02 About 5 years ago I kept getting mailers and E-mails from AARP saying I could get discounted car insurance through them. I called and they asked me all about my age, occupation and driving record. No problem. Then they asked me what kind of car I drove. I said a 2002 ?Dodge Viper. They didn't even pause when they stated they would not insure that car. They didn't even tell me why when I asked.

BOTTLEFED I had USAA when I was still in. When I bought the Viper it wasn't too much added to my policy and I was happy. Then I had one small claim on the Viper and my premium just kept going up. I called and asked why and if the claim was the reason. They just said their premiums were increasing for everyone. But mine just kept climbing until I was paying over $200/mo just for the Viper. I had enough and found a better deal elsewhere for my insurance. I felt like they had something against me personally and just wanted to drive me away.
I now have Geico and I pay $120/mo for full coverage on my Viper and DD. USAA can kiss my ass
