Dan Cragin Good numbers. The 00-02 models seem to make good power without the cats.

SoCal Rebell My 2000 Creampuff with:

Belanger headers
Randomthech 3" in/out high flow cats
Belanger 3" catbacks
Smooth tubes
Aluminum fly wheel
3.55 gears

Turned 434 RWHP & 474 RWTQ on a dyno jet 248C SAE corrected.

Yes your #s seem real good. What were the A/f during your pull ? I don't think you'll see 500 WHP with headers and rockers. If you do I think you'll be the first.
I used the same dyno for every step of my mods so I know the gains are real. For a Dyno jet it's known for being on the stingy side, as far as #s go.

CSXT802 My first time to the dyno with my 2000 gts car made 406 WHP , 446 ft lbs. That was with smooth tubes, filters, MP borla cat back, and cats deleted. A/F were 11.4:1 WOT.
Sent the dyno info to Mr. Torrie R. McPhail @ unleashed tuning. Bought an sct tuner from him. With 3 tunes on it. Best dyno with the sct tune was 426 WHP , 468 FT lbs. Next step was flea bay headers and gen 3 rockers . Back to the dyno on the sct tune have to abort the pull @ 3000 rpm A/F were way too lean 13.8 : 1. The A/F were 12.8 :1 before the headers and rockers. So now I know i'm moving more air. E-mail torrie he sends me a revised 91 octane tune for the headers. 445 WHP, 490 ft lbs.

-FROG- Sounds about right on the higher end. Good for a Mustang dyno. I made about 460 / 500 on a Dynojet with about the same mods. Getting rid of cats does wonders on these cars... as well as having high flowing headers. I always brag about my headers giving me the edge compared to most other headers. I think they are SVS Off Road Headers... something weird and really expensive that came on the car when I got it.

gizmo5 I'm anti generic tune no matter what actually. And these cars seem to wake the fuck up just by letting the air pump pump air.

dave6666 Mail order tunes work well on the older non ABS cars like yours TF. 2001 on up is where you are better off having the dyno running an itune platform.

It is not worth buying a mail order tune, they are just too generic. All it takes is for one car to blow and the customer toblame the mail order tune. Once that happens the tuner's business and reputation is shot.
I have a new SCT. So if I take it to a tuner with a dyno will he make a custom tune as he goes or how does this exactly work? I don't want to waste money on a mail order tune if they don't work.

jaysfolly Yep I misread. You're right, a canned one size fits all tune wouldn't do much since every viper is just different enough to screw that up.
September 19th, 2013 09:35 AM
ultradriver10000 Canned tunes are totally different then dyno tunes.... which I was hoping a mail order tune from Roe would help.

Who in Houston tunes vipers? I need some roller rockers and removal of cats first. Has anyone done close to 500whp with bolt ons?

Eventually I'd love some worked over heads and a cam, but the end goal is TT, so I'd have to get a turbo cam until I pony up for the twins.
