Finally it's painted!! Motor specs 97 Lt-1, all forged, o- ringed, copper gaskets, procharger f1-r, t-56, full sequential fast system, car wieghs 2300lbs! Everything is fiberglass, gutted doors, interior etc. Only glass is the front window over 800hp to the wheels. Motor is out thats why its sitting high in the front, the rear will come down also. The hole in the hood is where the blow off valve sticks out. The front inlet will be filled by the intercooler.
Best looking 240Z I ever saw. The rims and the color are awesome, the whole car flows so well Darius. Good luck with the rest of your project, I have a feeling we are going to see some ass kicking videos of it soon.
Those cars were national trans-am winners for several years whooping up on the vettes, camaro's and jags in the early seventies. 800 hp and 2400lbs...yikes! Looks like a lifetime obsession for you, very nice.
Is an optispark used for triggering the ignition?
Thanks
It looks like he is running an Optispark eliminator. You can see the individual MSD coils mounted alongside the valvecovers.
Lookin good. I wonderd if you still had it. I remember seeing videos of this car when it was running on the street. Four wheel drifts across lanes of traffic, no traction. Then a bunch of donuts. I think Chris posted vids to the BA F-body list many, many years ago.
What heads? Do you know flow numbers? Is an optispark used for triggering the ignition?
Thanks
The heads are stock lt-1 for now. The car made so much power before with the D-1 blower I figure with the F1-r I'll still have enough I'm using a optispark eliminator from the LTCC system. The IRS is pretty tough, R-230 model from a 1990 300z twin turbo with aftermarket halfshafts. The car might not conform to all the laws of the street but it's going to have tags and a plate for sure. 1971 so it's smog exempt, just need some headlights. I used to do track days with the stock carbed v8 but now it just has too much power.
good looking build. I am doing something simular with a 1986 911 convt. I am using a 95 LT1 with a single turbo. Lots of work left to do so I am not posting any photos yet. probably got a year of work left.
What I was trying to find out was does this ignition setup COMPLETELY remove the optispark or does it only take away the cap and rotor function of the opti. Is the opti still used to trigger the ignition or does it use something more reliable like a crank trigger?
Thanks
Not yet, still need to mount the diffuser, taillights, hatch and I have a nice carbon fiber tail light surround and small wing. The Ltcc kit doesn't completly remove the opti, it still uses it as a trigger. There isn't any reliability issues with the trigger. I'm sure it's gonna put the smack down pretty hard on Old Blue when it runs. Can't wait to post the vid
Nice looking build. I used to work for Victoria British/Long Motor pimping parts for these in high school. Also owned a 1991 300ZXTT with Jim Wolf mods, fun car. Ive always liked the 240/260Z's.
