Actually a guy in my neighborhood that buys them to fixup and flip, does them right in his driveway lol. Seen a bunch of 308/328/348/some 355s. Haven't seen one in awhile, seems to of moved onto the old school SL class coupes now.
I have looked at a few over the years, really wanted a 355, interior was horrible on the ones I looked at, sounded great but not fast at all. Build quality no better than a Viper, maybe the newer ones are better.
FYI, not that I have any personal experience with them. When I was in the market for an "affordable" Ferrari years ago, I spoke with a couple of certified Ferrari mechanics and this is what they had to say about the 348:
Stay away from that model, at any price point. They said is was the worst Ferrari from a quality and maintenance standpoint. Electrical issues were rampant and difficult to trace and repair. That is why they were so reasonably priced (just like older full size MB SL cars). They looked nice, but that was about it. Both recommended a 328 as a much better driver and better reliability car. I eventually took their advice and bought something else (328s just looked to dated to me at the time, mid 2000s)

what price you getting it for? and are you getting it because you like the looks or just because it is a Ferrari?
I am sure you will be disappointed driving it as you will be comparing it to whatever modern car.
Parts are expensive even doing the work yourself, it is an old car. I'd get a tight pussy hooker then a old loose one.
I think you'd get a differnt response to the question on ferrari chat. I have a 90 348TS and love it, I also love my 00 ACR, very different cars. I did my timing belt / engine out and it really wan't bad. The reputation is ill deserved,IMO. If you get a clean example that's been taken care of its reliable and provides a wonderful sound as you go through the gears. The leather does not age the best, and some parts are expensive (castings/body panels) but for operation the parts are cheap if you take a little time cross referencing. Crank sensors are also used on a KIA, Fuel press regs are used on 90's volvos, ect.
The last of the manual steering cars, and standard non electronic coil overs, the last analog Ferrari. I would expect more here to appreciate a no frills performance car. I dont have a pic of it with the viper, guess my mustang will have to do.
The 89 you were considering is a bit of a unicorn with a 1 year only management system. just FYI

Actually my seats are mint, I do cover them when I am not using the car to keep them nice. I also cover cars in the winter and keep them in a heated garage, must be because I am ashamed and hiding them.
