Really shaping up nicely. I love to see people do this type of work! Congrats on the progress to this point.

Got the rear hinge done. Took a bit of work to get the geometry right, but it is good now!

Be sure to have some properly located isolation bumpers for the engine cover. That bid ol' thing is likely to rattle around a bit on the streets.

Yup! I have some poly bumpers it will sit on. Also, ordered some solenoid activated door latches. Will be just a push button to unlock it. Slick!

I agree.

As they come supplied - I like the Ultima GTR Evo because they are very well sorted as they arrive.

But what you have done with this car - wow. You've made this car your own - and better than 99.99% of kit cars I've ever seen.

You've got both skills and taste. Can't wait to see how it tears up the track. If you can keep it cool enough, it should be an absolute terror to others trying to race you.

I'm going to wager that you will find the power level "sweet spot" is lower than you might think though for circuit work ;-) Obviously turning the wick up will be awesome for rolls ons and 1mile events etc. But I'm thinking 800rwhp will be about the sweet spot for the best repeatable track times and that 1000+ will be too much for circuits.

Prove me wrong please. The Porsche 917/30 Can Am's proved it can be done :-D

Not too many updates really. Got the wing standoffs made and rear wing planned out. Wing mounts are made with a very thin alum sheet, then carbon fiber layed up on each side getting thicker as it progresses to the bottom, where the strength is needed. This was about the lightest way to mount the wing and have strength in all axis. Under the wing, as part of the latch mechanism, is where the load will transfer to the frame. This set up really shaved some weight off of the original design. At this point even with all of the extra body work and inner structures, I am at the same weight as before. Should work well and way better aero than started with.

I have been working a lot, and really just kind of burned out. Building cars for myself too many years in a row with no breaks. Just taking a little time off to learn a new trade, so I can semi retire and then make more time to finish my projects.
I ran across options trading about 7 months ago and decided to take professional classes. I got addicted very quickly and have already surpassed my teachers, and veteran mentors. In 5 months I have managed to come up 3450% in the demo (everything is live, just not hooked to $ account yet). So right now all focus is on that and getting ready to go live very soon. The numbers I am hitting are straight retarded, but it seems to be something that comes natural to me. So ya, practice making $250k a day, or work on my car. Lol. The choice was simple.
Once I am settled into trading and my other businesses are fazed out, I will have time to get back on this.
The current 1UZ might be hitting the trash, and I have fallen in love with the Benz V12 twin turbo motors. I run a really good chance it will even bolt up to the Porsche trans! Located all of the parts and aftermarket ecu including a 4 disk clutch to hold the stupid 950ftlbs torque! It will actually be cheaper to do than the full build of the 1UZ since the V12 motor is already built for boost and stock turbos can crank up to 850hp and roughly 950ftlbs without cracking a valvecover! The sound will be abnoxious too!

Here is a couple pics of the wing and front canards I made. I wrapped the front pieces in spread toe cf that looks much better in person. I have nearly enough to wrap the whole car, and am considering it. Project definitely not abandoned, but work before play for abit longer.

I picked up an Renntech SL65 AMG about a year ago, and the tt V12 motors are just a beautiful thing! It has 850ftlbs, but 800ftlbs is available from like 2200-4500rpm.
I couldn't imagine that being in a car that weighs nearly 2,000lbs less! Best part about it, is you can find a 50k mile 5.5L tt v12 on ebay for about $3500 with turbos and wiring. Better intake and intercooler set up, and better exhaust and you can tune the 5.5L to 900hp and 950ftlbs without cracking a valvecover on stock turbos. Found a 4 disk clutch for $1200 for the Porsche transaxle and a Motec can run the whole thing. $3500 will bairily buy me the bottom end parts needed for the 1UZ!
Straight pipe off the turbos and it will be scary AF!
The Benz V12 is only about 1-1.5" longer than an LS, and same width if not a touch narrower. Screw LS swaps, the V12 is the way to go.

Good choice. The AMG V8's and V12's a stunning engines. The V12 weighs about 100lb more than an LS?1UZ (same weight), but as it's over the back axle that's not as serious as up front. Pity they didn't do a factory boosted M159 6.2 V8, that engine loves to road race and will rev past 7k all day
