New C-class AMG to have new 4.0 Twin Turbo V8

Quote:
The days of AMG’s 6.2-liter V8 are numbered. A twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 has replaced the mill in nearly all of AMG’s offerings, and now a new report suggests that Mercedes-Benz’ performance division is working on another downsized mill to take its place in the next C63 AMG.

Unlike the new-generation BMW M3, the C63 AMG won’t switch to a six-cylinder setup - the new motor is a turbocharged 4.0-liter V8, according to an Autocar report. The motor is said to be derived from the new 2.0-liter four-cylinder that’s earmarked for the A45 AMG and CLA45 AMG, with the two motors sharing critical measurements such as individual cylinder capacity and bore center spacing.

The forced-induction eight is said to produce over 450 horsepower in “entry-level” form, though it’s capable of churning out a maximum of 600 ponies.

In addition to the C63 AMG, the new V8 will reportedly be used in the long-rumored SLC. It will also replace the SLK55 AMG’s naturally-aspirated 5.5-liter V8.

Benz is on a roll, and next CTS-V should be incredible, Audi doing great as well. BMW on the other hand lost their way, more and more numb, fat, softer....oh and lets pump artificial engine sounds through the speakers. ..yeh sounds like the BMW I remember lol

$59,800 base for the current C63. The new one houldn't be much more. It's only a C. I test drove all the models at El Toro base about 2 years ago, and the C63 was the most fun. Roberto Guerro was in the passenger seat for the cone course. I asked the host if RG could drive, because it would show me what the car could do. RG was diving for the driver's seat, when the host said no.
