Gallardo clutch

I know, it's the bugaboo on Lambo's and an expensive replacement part.

So how do you know clutch life remaining on a used G?
I'm looking at some at a local dealer and the advettise a percentage left and I assume that is taken from some computer system onboard?

Not sure if they have a sensor or not, but without looking at the clutch itself, it's pretty impossible to determine how bad it is and how long it has left. I sent you a PM.

From what I've been told:
E-gears have a sensor that will determine clutch wear. Manuals do not.

Since it is a VW/Audi product, I'd assume it could be accessed by a device similar to a VAG-COM used on all the other VW products. It can register virtually every measurable parameter of a vehicle, as well as alter internal settings of the computer, creature comforts of the car, rescale the guage readouts etc....

VAG-COM's are usually a dealer only item, and some VW techs have them as well. Not sure if Lambo uses something similar, but I'd bet my ass that they do.

Assuming the car is e-gear, a Lambo dealer can hook up a laptop to it and check the clutch wear. It can't be done with just any laptop as it requires the Lamborghini diagnostic software. Most dealers are very cooperative with providing copies of prior service orders to prospective buyers (usually they black out the name of the prior owner), but the prior service order may or may not have the clutch wear on it (you didn't say if you knew it did or were just hoping, and it's not an automatic thing that dealers do every time the car is in for service). Sounds like you're either going to have to find something on a prior SO or send the car to the dealer if you really want the info.
Can clutch wear be observed from laptop? - 6speedonline.com Forums

Can they determine if the car has ever been farted in?

Jon, they can take an Egear snap shot with the Lamborghini diagnostic equipment. But no way though onboard diagnostics. 3pedal cars can not be read.

Egear snapshots Can NOT be taken with Vag-Com. That is VW/Audi only (I have an A8, and it works great, but not Lambo).. The snapshot reading is a mm. reading, they then convert to % of material, closed vs. open.

When doing the PPI. That is something I would confirm, along with (of course) all service records, mileage check at the ECU, warranty history, no prior paintwork, and both carfax and autocheck. Just to ensure no errors on either one. something as simple as mileage entered in wrong, in error, can effect the value down the road.

good luck in your search. amazing cars for sure... the look, sound, everything.. but they are fragile... It will be in the shop from time to time, for bs stuff.

True story. I was told by Lambo, in Miami. They once sold a brand new egear/G on Friday afternoon. It was back in Monday afternoon for a clutch. LOL. FWIW.

Yeah I figured there had to be a way to at least estimate the clutch life.
That's everybodies biggest fear getting a new (used) Lambo and having to drop 8K more right away...

A lot of Lambo's down in your area Taximan...might have to hire you to check a few out..

Def sell the ACR, and probably the B/W just because like now I would never drive it.
I put less than 150 miles on the GTS last year. It still only has 15K on it and it just sits so it should go to a better home.
It is so pristine it should get a least 42-45K I would think.
If I sold them both would give me around 130K or so depending on the ACR's value.
That would get a low mileage 07 or 08 G. There is a beautiful Super G right near me here for 159K but it's grey....not very hot looking.
Only 9K on it. If it was a different color I would be sorely tempted.

Yeah, I know the feeling. My Gen4 does nothing but sit. I think it has 1900 miles.

You will have zero problems with both of those cars. the market is stronger than last year when I sold mine. I see ACR's being picked up by dealers quick, only to be re-sold a week later. I also see that low mile 2002 final editon from the vca sold for $50k to a dealer (or close to it?), and is now selling on ebay for $58k... all good signs.

thats what a 2 year hiatus will do. :-)

LOL, just for fun. You know your driving it home. :-) Vipers are bringing very good money right now. You might be surprised what they offer you for the pair.

Both the Verde and Orange Pearl are out of this world, but very "loud". Down here, I see so many in the tropical colors. I swear 90% in FL are yellow.

That clutch should be fine with those miles. Just ask them for an E gear snap shot. They can tell you whats left.
