Gen 2 viper gts 2002 help!!

Hello, i recently purchased a 2002 viper gts in graphite metallic. It has 37800 miles on it. I have had it about three weeks now and after the first week it developed what I thought was an oil pan gasket leak. I had trouble obtaining the gasket at the time so I used grey silicone and attempted to re seal it. It immediately leaked again. I went to the dealer and ordered the original mopar gasket and installed it yesterday. I cleaned the pan and block to make sure I would get a good seal. I also used gray silicone on the corners on the crevices and a thin layer on the gasket itself. I brake cleaned the bolts and used thread sealant as well. I drove it this morning and unfortunately it is leaking a lot once again. I believe it is one of two things.... The rear main seal, or I didn't torque the bolts enough. My local dealer won't provide the correct torque specs..so I was fearful of cracking the pan...I torqued to 15 ft lbs. can anyone provide me with advice on what to do? Should I tighten the bolts more? Can anyone provide me with the correct specs etc from the factory? I am so frustrated with this. Please help any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much. Also I am located in Southern California if anyone can recommend a good viper tech.

You really should post this kind of question in the Gen II forum. No one uses the regional forums here.

1. I wouldn't have put sealer on the gasket, assuming that you bought the metal gasket with the rubber insert. (I haven't bought a replacement, I've just reused the original that I've described). It probably didn't hurt, though.
2. Sounds like you probably also dabbed silicone in the 4 places recommended which is good and some people have needed to seal the pan mounting bolts like you did. (I didn't and mine never leaked)
3. Torque for the bolts is 95 in-lbs per the service manual. I wouldn't go tighter on the bolts than you have.
4. There is a copy of the '98 manual saved online by a member here. It should cover most of your car except the ABS brake system. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0Bwwp...NKS2pLdk0/edit
5. A&C Performance and Specialty Performance Team are the two highly recommended Viper shops in SoCal. Pick the one that is closest to you.
6. The front timing chain cover gasket is also a somewhat common source for an oil leak, as is the rear main seal. Some have had leaks from the oil cooler lines. (also power steering fluid leaks from various locations - in case you aren't positive of the source and fluid type.)

I can send you a OEM Service manual which will be invaluable when working on your car. I would retorque the bolts to 95 inch lbs and re-torque the front timing cover bolts too.

Jslimm thank you for your time and advice. Next time I will try the gen 2 section. I hope it is a simple fix. I've always wanted a viper and finally got one so I'm very excited but frustrated because of this leak.
