Sport Cups

i was just wondering if anyone has put the Pilot sport cups on their srt? I have the opportunity to get a set of acr rims and tires with about 80% tread life left. Just wanted to know the difference between the ps2 and the Cup tire..

Thanks

Spending 10 years track racing I'll tell you this........grab them. I've run many Vipers on many tires and by far the Cups are the best. Even the Hoosier R6S06s which are a dot tire is only marginally better then the Cups.

If you break it down by compound which is treadwear rating, the lower the # the softer and stickier the compound the PS2 is a 220, the PSC is a 80 and the Hoosier dot tire is a 40. The tradeoff is less tire wear. I personally have raced an '08 ACR with Cups and they were extraordinary. I did 4 track days and wore them out and had to replace them and my fastest lap was the last lap before I corded the fronts.

They are consistent, took 4 full track days to cord them which is about the same as the Hoosier R3S06s and the addition of the "lighter" ACR Sidewinder rims will save the a lot of rotating mass. Anyway bottom line if to can afford them, they do nothing but help the car.

I agree with SoCal with one exception. You are in Canada it appears and I can tell you the Sport Cups take time to warm up even under normal street driving. I would be careful with them if that is what you go with. Even in Texas the cold months make it an interesting drive. If you only drive the car on warm days nevermind.
