What is it about run flats that suck? Are they worth having a set for $1000? I need a set of tires for some rims I just picked up

I would not put run flats on my car if they were given to me for free unless I was just gonna do burnouts in them

The best tires that worked for me in the terrible roads of Puerto Rico (damaged roads everywere) are the Nitto Invo. They are not run flat but there is a green product you put in them (I don't remember the name) that makes any tire run flat. Is a preventive treatment, not the stuff that is used when the tire is already flat.

They are just a really hard tire. The ride sucks, traction sucks, and the steering can sometimes be off. Trust me, I have not run into one guy here or in person that has not replaced them. The ride with another set of tires is night and day.

PS2's would be my vote.
