There is a RSI TT viper for sale on Ebay that made 1344 rwhp with 18 pounds of boost. I thought those numbers were pretty good in the viper world as far as far as boost per horsepower. I was wondering if some of you folks thought this was good or average for FI vipers. It is a Gen 3, 522CID, Twin 76 turbo's.
Pretty sure its legit. I saw it on autotrader a month ago and noticed the tubes and was not even listed as a twin turbo because the dealer probably did not have a clue. Some people are just ready to get out and with the economy I would say more deals are on the way.
I know of cars making over 1000 with a lot less boost, smaller motors, on pump gas and no water meth.
So... on race gas… sure
I don't think anyone is debating if it is possible. JID's car made 1345 RWHP on 18 pounds IIRC. The question is whether RSI did it with factory manifolds. My guess is no.
Still, I am not totally on board with the rampant hate of RSI. Its certainly not the same company that it used to be and Doug seems to be a good guy. We talk frequently enough and he seems very customer focused. I know they haven't really turned out anything amazing yet, but at the same time, I haven't heard any horror stories recently either. Give 'em a chance.
They just appear to be the factory heat shields which are attached to the factory headers IIRC. I have heard from several people that RSI turbo systems generally use factory headers. If they aren't then I stand corrected, but they appear to be.
Even if they don't, that power is on the upper end of any footwell system ever.
