The name's Joe, I'm an Admin over at LS1GTO, I currently have a 2005 GTO that's been converted to the Holden Monaro appearance. 480rwhp/480rwtq and a six-speed (pics attached).
So now on to the questions....
I'm selling the GTO to make room for a Viper, and I've narrowed down my scope to a convertible 04-06. I've searched the site as well as I could have, but I was wondering where I would find a decent resource on what to look for on these cars, what the 'achilles heels' are, etc. I just want to be as informed as possible when making my selection.
If I missed something obvious, don't be too rough on me...lol. Thanks for your time.
if you have never been here, the only advice i have for you and answers to your questions would be to use the SEARCH function because you will get a lot of shit on here for asking dumb questions.
I believe 04s had a recall on the Crank Position Sensor, so do a search on that issue.
Also be on the lookout for the crank pulley separating from the crank on 04s. It is simply pressed onto the crank. Mine did it twice before they fixed it with an 05 pulley with a slightly smaller ID.

congrats on finally getting a viper
Definitely. I joined the site a couple of weeks ago and I've been reading and searching the whole time. I'm sure it can be as brutal as my forum....lol.

Thanks guys, but believe it or not I didn't wash it all that often (just once every other month or so), I also didn't drive it all that often. I think that was the key.
It was a sunny day cruiser for the most part and always kept in the garage.
My Tahoe on the other hand truly looks like shit and hasn't been washed in over a year while being parked outside.
That's a damn clean car. I've been looking at Silver (for the reasons mentioned about black being such a bitch to keep looking good), but when it's polished up there isn't much that compares....I'll keep you in mind, Doc. Thanks for the link.
