New site member - intro + a couple questions

First the intro:

The name's Joe, I'm an Admin over at LS1GTO, I currently have a 2005 GTO that's been converted to the Holden Monaro appearance. 480rwhp/480rwtq and a six-speed (pics attached).

So now on to the questions....

I'm selling the GTO to make room for a Viper, and I've narrowed down my scope to a convertible 04-06. I've searched the site as well as I could have, but I was wondering where I would find a decent resource on what to look for on these cars, what the 'achilles heels' are, etc. I just want to be as informed as possible when making my selection.

If I missed something obvious, don't be too rough on me...lol. Thanks for your time.

if you have never been here, the only advice i have for you and answers to your questions would be to use the SEARCH function because you will get a lot of shit on here for asking dumb questions.

congrats on finally getting a viper

The cars are basically bulletproof. No recalls and very little quirky issues.
Try the Viper Club website for more detailed questions.

I believe 04s had a recall on the Crank Position Sensor, so do a search on that issue.

Also be on the lookout for the crank pulley separating from the crank on 04s. It is simply pressed onto the crank. Mine did it twice before they fixed it with an 05 pulley with a slightly smaller ID.

Definitely. I joined the site a couple of weeks ago and I've been reading and searching the whole time. I'm sure it can be as brutal as my forum....lol.

In a bit of shameless promotion, I have one for sale:

It's a soft market and I would let it go for 45.

I understand Doc's car has very little swirl marks brought about by over-washing a black car.

Thanks guys, but believe it or not I didn't wash it all that often (just once every other month or so), I also didn't drive it all that often. I think that was the key.

It was a sunny day cruiser for the most part and always kept in the garage.

My Tahoe on the other hand truly looks like shit and hasn't been washed in over a year while being parked outside.

That's a damn clean car. I've been looking at Silver (for the reasons mentioned about black being such a bitch to keep looking good), but when it's polished up there isn't much that compares....I'll keep you in mind, Doc. Thanks for the link.

Wow arent we special. I dont know if we are ready for an administrator from an ls1gto site.

And nope, I dont think you missed anything. You have managed to list every boring detail that nobody here will give a shit about.

Are mullets still the big thing in the LS1 world?

Good luck - the market is soft, so you'll likely get a good deal... Doc's car looks clean and $45K makes it REAL nice...

Vipers are great cars, but if your GTO was a DD, and you are moving to a Viper as a DD - make sure your ready for all that comes with it...

I don't have a problem with the thread originator's toe dip;

Yeah, it seems like a really good buy. His car is on the 'list' for sure.
