The main center console area seems to be plastic with some kind of "rubberized" paint/coating applied to it. I have picked up a few nicks and scratches on mine and as I rub it with my fingers the rubber coating is peeling off.
So the question is, how do I go about touching this up? I have heard some people, with other car models and a similar "rubberized" plastic coated interior, just rub some rubberized paint/undercoating in and it matches well. I believe Duplicolor makes it.
But before I tried that I just wanted to check with the knowledge base here in case someone has already done something like this. Search function didn't turn up anything.
The process is a base/clear with a soft-feel additive to the clear. Alsa Corporation specializes in custom paint and they have the soft touch additive.

Ah yes this was the kind of info I was looking for! So now its really starting to sound like a project, mixing, testing, color matching, blending...sigh...we'll see if I am brave enough to try this
And yes nice interior work Mr. Hollywood! But just to be clear my issue was not with the center console plate that is around the radio/HVAC...this one is removable. My problem area is the part that it connects to and unfortunatle it is part of a bigger piece and then extends over to the Speedo and Tach...sigh its never easy...

No problem.Any competent body shop could handle it. May cost a couple of $. I dropped my keys on my lower piece the other day and chipped it a little. I know if I repaint it like factory it is only going to happen again. The factory paint (softfeel) just seems so fragile to me. I'll repaint both pieces in base/clear when I repaint the car. By the way, bad-ass ride and killer install.
