As you can see on the accompanying chart, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 took home the crown, despite the fact the Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR won more events.

The vipers ability to do so well with people who don't have a lot of seat time in it is impressive. AWD lambo and gadget GTR can be hard to beat if you don't become one with the car.

It's the fairest test I've ever seen. No points given for cupholders or rear seats. Who's faster on a variety of tracks and the Viper came a strong 2nd to a car costing twice as much. I would have to prefer the Viper to win, but their methodology doesn't leave room for whining.

Good job ACR. I am pretty sure the ACR would have gone faster on the oval with a different driver!

I'd vote for the crazy nut getting air with the new ZR-1 at Nurnbergring. He'd likely be right at home in the ACR.

I could have sworn that SoCal posted about someone turning a 1:29 at Willow in a bone stock REGULAR SRT Coupe? Wonder what a good driver would have done with the ACR on that track.

Correct. I think Steve Millen drove the first ACR around Willow and got 1:28.

Great article. Performance only. Top-notch drivers. Consistently even formats.

Best magazine test I've ever seen!

I am a little baffled how the ACR would have done so poorly on the oval (Guess he was shifting between 4th and 5th which is unfortunate). I concur with the statement made prior that the result is particularly impressive when you consider that none of the drivers are particularly good with the Viper (As we all know, Millen is a whore for AWD and is a Nissan test driver with a financial interest in it winning). The techy stuff certainly helps in a situation like this. I was sad to see the z06 saddled by its crap tires. I am sure it would have been much more towards the top with better tires.

Probably something around a 0.86 5th instead of 0.74 would have been close to optimal. Strangely, Dodge hasn't seen fit to change the ratio of a single gear in the transmission in 16 years.

Damn, that was nice to see an average spread of different tracks. It seemed fair to me, and not one benchmark track, so good marks for R&T! Makes me want to get a new black with blue striped ACR to play with, but the FGT looks kewler
