Should I get the extended warranty or not??

How many of you guys have an extended warranty?? Mines is an 05 with 10600 miles. No problems in the one month I have had it. How likely is the dealer to void my warranty for air intake and exhaust mods? Thanks.

I didn't on mine. I researched it a bit before I bought mine and the Vipers seem to be pretty reliable.

Like all warranties - it's a matter of how lucky you feel. The Viper tax on parts is ridiculous. I am having a window regulator replaced right now under the standard warranty on my 2005 and the cost for just the part is $1200. Amazing thing is - a $5 plastic clip broke - but the plastic piece itself is not replaceable - so the whole window regulator needs to be replaced.

As far as intake and exhaust go - the intake certainly does not void the warranty and the exhaust should also not be an issue.

That's funny - my passenger side window regulator was just replaced last week under warranty. I was told it would have cost $1,300 plus labor if not for my warranty. I'm probably going to purchase the 100K warranty before my factory warranty expires.

I paid 1,500 for this shitty warranty...The viper tech kept my 03 SRT10 for 2 months just to tell me that they had to tighten a loose roller rocker...And then charged me 300 bucks to do it....

It's so funny because my usual mechanic told me it was a loose roller rocker and was gonna fix it for me for 50 bucks but I told him no and that I might as well have it done for free under warranty...Ha ha ha ha...

Worse waste of money i ever spent...SRT10's are VERY reliable cars period and very straight forward and easy to work on...

The clutch job in my Viper cost me 400 bucks for parts and labor...The clutch job on my nsx is 3000 bucks for parts and labor...

You dont need the warranty on the SRT10....If low and behold your engine should some how blow up one day..Call Chuck tator and have it built bigger and better VS the shit that the dealership would do...

Hmm, seems like with my luck, I had better get the warranty. I am able to have it thrown in with the financing, although I haven't been officially "approved" yet? Still waiting on the paperwork from Chrysler. Mine is costing just over 3600 for a total of 4 more years and 60k more miles (car has 10700 now).

I spoke to the local Dodge dealer and their opinion was that they will not void anything unless it is directly related to an aftermarket part, so hopefully I can purchase an exhaust kit and such in the next couple months, money permitting...

thank guys.

3700 is a rip off man......Look..If anything actually did go bad in the next 4 years..Set that 3700 aside and use it then "IF" need be...

I guarantee in the next 4 years you'll likely put less than 15K miles on the car..meaning that 4 years from now the car will have what?????25-40K miles on it????/ Just barely broken in man...

The only thing that ever broke on my SRT10 was the aftermarket harland Sharp roller rockers...And I drag raced the SHIT out of that car as much as possible..Im talking 15 passes a night a few times a week for months.. She never once had any problems...

I paid 1,500 for my warranty and it was a mistake...3,700 is just ludicrous IMHO

My 2000 GTS warranty cost about $2300 for the DC Max Care warranty. With the warranty I received 1 rebuilt Arrow engine and 1 transmission out of it, plus some other crap like an O2 sensor and a motor and trans mount but I also beat the snot out of my car. I would buy one again in a heartbeat if I purchased another Viper. If you are a powder puff driver or a hey look at my shiny Viper in the trailer, first let me show you the VCA website and please leave the Alley immediately and secondly do not buy the warranty as the Vipers take a lot of abuse. Gary

I will never buy an extended warranty again. Ever. Whenever a dealer asks me if I want one.... I laugh at them.

Last car I bought an extended warranty for was my old 2000 WS6 Trans Am when I was in college years ago. I installed cat back exhaust and intank and since the car had T-tops I had subframe connecters put on it just to be safe.

The engine seized up about 5k miles after I bought it. The people I bought the warranty from came out to look at the car to evaluate the claim. They denied it due to the mods.

Being broke and in college without mommy and daddy paying for anything thats a BIG slap in the face and was a big cost to me.
