I took the door panel out and have been trying to fit 2 6.5 speakers on the door panel with no luck.
Has anybody installed a custom stereo system in a convertible SRT-10 with 2 speakers at each door or 4 speakers total with the extra 2 speakers mounted somewhere else?
Polk makes direct bolt in door speakers - I can't remember the model #.
Bingo. My last SRT had 6.5 Polks in the doors. But even with those, the stereo shop had to "furr out" the hole with a round "spacer" to accomadate the deeper speaker.
Why do you want two 6.5 in each door? You should get plenty loud with the proper setup just going with one 6.5 in each door as well as keeping better imaging and soundstage.
I already bought this system
Soundstream Tarantula Component 6.5 speakers (2 pairs)
Soundstream Tarantula T5-10
Soundstream Tarantula 960.4 Amp
Soundstream Tarantula 1500D Amp
Soundstream 2.0 Farad capacitor
So I have 4 6.5 speakers and a 4 channel amp to feed them but cant find any space to install the second pair of 6.5 speakers.
I thought about filling the curve of the door where you put your elbow to make a housing for the second 6.5 but it becomes very uncomfortable to drive that way and steer the car.
Oh well, Ill just put them on some other car.

x2. If you spend the money to purchase quality components and properly install and power them, there is no need for fifty zillion more drivers. Less is better when it comes to staging and imaging.

Put the second set of 6.5s in back for rear fill. Two sets up front, mounted just where ever you can fit them is most likely going to sound worse than a proper setup of two in the front and two in the rear for fill.

What do you mean by rear fill? Seriously though.
This is a convertible. Are you saying put the second set in the trunk or behind the seats where there is no room for anything?
<<< Probably one of the first SRT owners to get creative with a stereo.
Install a double-din in the dash. Put a good sub in the footwell on the passenger side. Unless you frequently have 6 footers riding with you, they'll have enough leg room.
Then install some quality components in the doors, tweeters in the dash and near your ears... behind the seats. Unless you want to do some gay center console sub or something that looks cool, but doesn't perform for shit in the trunk.

I was wondering how the tweeters up by the ears would work when properly equalized. Most localizing information in sound is in treble, so I would guess pretty good.

The tweeters sound good in that location. And I'm suprised how good a single 10" sub sounds in the footwell.

I have had a few cars that I found the best location to put the tweeters was on the dash, bouncing off the glass. A second set of tweeters knocked down about 6db also sit on the dash, towards the center of the dash and are used as a center channel. I know it goes against conventional wisdom with car audio speaker placement but I have had some great results, particularly in cars with a lot of room between the driver and the windshield. Rather than muddy the soundstage, the speaker placement actually helps widen and define it. You want to make sure that if the tweeters and mids are of a different distance from your ear, that you use a time delay to make everything hit you at the same time. The stereo in my viper is stock now. I upgraded my old viper to McIntosh and MB Quart and it was just silly. I don't want my sports car to be any heavier than it already is and acoustically, you are fighting an uphill battle to make the thing sound good.

Hmmm...
Installing 2 6.5” speakers at the doors, 2 6.5” speakers in the original subwoofer location between the seats, and one 10” subwoofer in the footwell...
I don’t think the footwell will accommodate an 10” sub though...
