Anyone looking to take a spot in line for an 08 ACR?

Well driving season is already half-way done with over here in Chicago and the boys at CAAP haven't even begun building my ACR yet. At this point I'm really thinking of just selling my spot in line to the highest bidder and buying something thats available right now to keep me occupied the next year or so. I have had the car on order through the House of Wood, which is as most of you know the most trustworthy and genuine dealership out there, since November of 07. Color is viper violet with the whole black center thing going and I didn't order any interior color options or any of that junk. If no one bites, I'll probably just have this thing stored at the house of wood over the winter getting some upgrades installed since by the time its built it'll be too late to drive it this year. Just figured that someone might be on the prowl for an already ordered ACR in the rarest color combo being produced.

Thanks

I hear ya'. I'm in Toronto and I ordered my '08 in Sept and then changed to an ACR in Dec. Don't think mine is built yet either and at this rate I'll just be putting it into storage for the winter when it arrives. When I ordered it in fall '07 didn't think I would have to wait until spring '09 to drive it.

Having said that, everyone says it's worth the wait. So, as frustrating as it is, I'm going to bite the bullet and hang in there rather than dump my order and buy something for this summer. Nothing worth having comes easy and I'd like to think that, as soon as it does arrive, all will be forgiven, forgotten and I'll be thankful I didn't give up on it. Hope you hang in there too!

I would wait and be a lil patient. The wait does suck but when the time comes for delivery, u wont even look back at the time waisted.
...and ur color combo sounds enticing!
take care.

I would wait. They're hard to come by and if you do find one, it's going to cost you.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts guys... I probably am going to end up waiting but its sort of frustrating that I'm not going to have the thing in my garage until next spring, 3/4 of a year away... I sold all of my other toys to make room for this thing months ago when I thought I'd be tracking it by now and here I am summer almost over not having anything to keep my hands full with. Maybe I'm just getting a bit over-anxious, however this is by far the longest I've ever waited on a car.

What is the price difference of what you can buy it for once yours is built vs what they sell on ebay for?

Not sure. I wouldn't be buying a different viper though if I do end up ditching my spot. I lucked out with the color I chose and its going to be the rarest color/(acr)trim combo to date if I'm not mistaken.

I've got an extra spot in my garage. I will keep it exercised in the winter. You can fly down and track it. If there's more than one of you that wants to take advantage of my generous offer, Catwood will help.

Why are you selling the spot? The car sells for sticker.

Why don't you look into a GTS? They are dirt cheap right now and make great track cars. You won't be disappointed, but you will be pissed when you get your ACR at sticker and then the 09's are coming out right after and you realize that yours is devalued by a years worth of depreciation due to late delivery. Besides, I don't think purple is the rarest color anyway. There will prob be a lot of them for sale when they are all done. What I would do is buy a GTS to track this year and move your money over to an 09.

I'm not terribly worried about depreciation and the 09's being released soon. Who's to say that the 09's will be built any quicker than the 08's? I'm just seeing if anyone with more patience than myself would rather get into an already ordered and soon to be built 08 ACR instead of waiting until December of 09/spring of 10 to get an 09. Really, if I get something else this year I'd be glad to give my spot up to someone for just the 2g deposit.

Good man! Honestly, the car is worth the wait. I absolutely love mine, and can't wait for the next track day.

Easy for you to say, Mr. Sunny Socal. I hope that its just the lack of media coverage and morgue/alley updates that have me down in the dumps about the long wait. Well... that and the fact the production is way behind schedule.

What's the latest? Been waiting forever here too, with same thoughts...

Just for perspective, according to the dealer my car is now in 'G' status, which probably puts it somewhere in this recent CAAP pic (posted on the morgue):
