Pre-purchase Question.

Newbie here about to purchase a Viper. Here's couple of issues I would like to know how much would it cost to fix and will it be a hassle getting it replace.

First, it is the liner inside the hood. Is the tearing normal? How much will it cost? Second, it's the trim by the window. The seller has a new door panel. Not sure why he didn't replace it. It is something of a hassle to get it done?

Thanks!

I've never seen either of those issues on any Viper. What year is this car and what condition is the rest of the car in?

My insulation on the underside of the hood is damaged from my motor tweaking and the SC bracket relocated TB bracket tearing into it just a hair. I moved the engine down into the cradle with the 2 motor mounts which was a bear to do even woith a long prybar and a lift and it helped, but the damage is still there (VERY tight fit with the Roe TB bracket relocation). Nothing like his, but I live with it as mine is minor.

Mr. Newbie, Viper parts are an arm and a leg, and the cheapest part of owning a Viper is the purchase price so if you are nervous about parting with loot, you might want to keep asking questions b4 buying. This is a great forum and got a lot of help here before I made the jump into a 3 year old Viper. Great cars and they take a great beating to boot. I'm very happy with the car, and my only concern is dealer support for warranty items-you are after all talking to the same guy that just changed the oil in a Neon only an hour before you-lol. Gary

That top door trim only separates when you take off the door panel, if you don't do it right.

Maybe they replaced/repaired the the door skin, ask him.

Here's the rest of the story and this might help providing an answer. Also, he had a brand new door panel and replace it. So far CarChex gave it an "Excellent" Condition with the two issue mentioned above.

It's obvious that you have doubts. Personally, I think that there are better cars out there. Unless it's a smoking deal, continue with your search.
