Insurance got a lot better at 25. I was quoted 6,500 a year to insure my first viper at 23 as a second car with less than 3,000 miles a year. I said screw it, I just really wanted the car and ended up managing to get a far better deal, just still not cheap.
In all honesty, don't even think about a viper for a few years. Get more driving experience under your belt, drive a piece of shit for a few years so you can appreciate it when you are in something nice down the road, save money and get started on saving for retirement.

You have driven for what, two years without wrecking? It is like Chris Rock's standup routine, "Shiiiiit, I take care of myyyy kids!"
"You are SUPPOSED to take care of your kids!"
People around your age always pat themselves on the back for going a year or two without crashing. I know I had friends in highschool that thought they were great drivers because they hadn't crashed yet, then took that overconfidence and did something stupid and wrecked. Shit, I remember being in a friends car, listening to him talk about what a great driver he is and actually get into an accident mid sentence.
I don't care what anyone at that age thinks, you have a lot to learn about driving. I know at 18, I thought I would have been able to handle a viper but looking back, I know that just once I would have done something stupid or careless or been temped to show off. The viper will bite you hard for making a mistake.
Don't piss your money away on a car at your age...enough of us have done it to tell you that most likely you will want something else in a few years and end up losing money on the deal. Do you have a college degree? Do you own a home? Knock those two things off your list first and then get a toy...been there done that.

Ditto. You beat me to this post. As far as I'm concerned, this is the only valid reply of them all. Thanks for saving me the trouble of making this post. I would have probably ranted on for several paragraphs.

I got mine at 22, just turned 25 and Im actually paying more for my POS daily driver insurance than my GTS through state farm. Im at around $80 a month for the Viper with the second car discount. I remember paying around $150 a month to insure my $3000 v6 camaro when I was 16 so in retrospect the Viper isnt bad.
I've had my car for awhile now, I don't have the funds to Track it the way I would like to and I find myself barely ever driving this past year or so. Figured it is time to move on, sell, and get another one later on although. I know I will miss driving it from time to time.

I went to school first, then I bought the car and now I'm building a house. Personally, I don't think that I would be able to get a house and then get a Viper. A home is usually the biggest purchase that you will ever make and it's a f@$king money pit. I kept it for last.

Never insult intelligence when you don't know the difference between they are and there.

So you are saying it is smarter to invest in a depreciating asset before investing in an appreciating asset...
