2008 Viper Stereo Head Unit Replacement

For those of you with 2008s:

1. Are any of the Speakers POWERED? If so when ones?

Sub between the seats?

Door speakers?

2. Can you replace the head unit with an Alpine or Pioneer unit with or without nav and with an ipod cable without replacing or rewiring all of the speakers? I.e.. can a new head unit just be plugged in to the existing system?

My car a a 2008 Coupe with the Non-Nav. stock radio (Single CD)

Thanks for your responses!

Great question, I too would like to know this. I'm very disappointed with the radio in my 08. The Navigation system has to have a disc inserted to operate, instead of having a harddrive. You can't have a CD playing and have the NAV system operating. I was actually shocked how crappy the performance of the radio is. I will be adressing this issue with some upgrades.

You would think that something as straightforward as that would have been resolved prior to the car hitting the market...I agree though the new audio system is definitely lacking in multiple areas.

I will post the answers--my guys are working on it and my car is not even here until Friday!

Basically:

1. It is a powered system.

2. We either need to crack into the wiring harness OR rewire everything OR replace everything.

3. Eventually, it should be possible to attach an iPod to our stock systems.

The Pioneer Units look pretty good from what I have seen.

Stay tuned... .
