I kinda expected the Viper to do much better with an extra 100HP advantage over the Z
Maybe the extra 300lbs and 3:07 highway gears impede the Viper a little

From what I can tell he is a great driver, but he is a drifter after all. Not gonna get the best lap time for either vehicle in my opinion. With a skilled driver the viper always has the upper hand. But theres no question the 08 Z is a monster too.
lol!!!! I almost spit my food when he said.... "Want a daily driver, go buy a Yaris"!
LOL, I caught that too.
They said the handling of the Z06 is predictable and it beat the Viper in that category. I think thats BS, you take both of those cars to the LIMIT and I want to be driving the Viper. No computer traction/active handling BS, just a car with good suspension and big ass tires. Thats the car I want.
The Viper is not for the timid. The Viper is the best and I'm not biast just because I own one, its a fact.
I've had a few Vettes, and the Viper is better in everyway.

I was a little suprised about that. I know the 08 Viper is supposed to have a few chassis improvements and possibly non-runflat tires. If that is true, it might even things up a little bit. Vipers seem really sensitive to alignment and a lot of times where they are said to be hard to drive at the limit, I wonder if the alignment was spot on. That Viper could have been some beat to hell press vehicle with bad alignment for all we know.
The 06 viper and vette were close. The 08 viper and vette both got the new tremic tranny, non run flats and revised suspension and the vette got a better steering rack so some of what the viper gained was also improved on the vette thus the closer results.
FYI,
That Viper had had some serious track use and was prepared by us and Terri Rossi. Tires were marginal. Sam is a great track driver as well, he won several VC races in our prepared Comp Coupes. One thing I must admit Sam said the Chevy was way easier to drive, but not as fun.

I bet the tires were even more marginal after all those burnouts. haha.
Hey, Dan you calling my tires marginal? It was fun watching my car on that. I hadn't seen that until now.
The front tires were fairly worn from track use, which might have slowed him down. The alignment is fairly agressive, which might have made it a little twitchier, and a bit faster. It has no mods to the engine, brakes or suspension. It has a roll bar and belts, which add some weight.
