Paint mil thickness

As a previous GTS owner, I have noticed that the paint thickness or durability of the '06 paint is not the same. The quality is better as far as finish goes but that is a different story. I have noticed that the front fascia and hood just doesn't hold up very well to rocks and other debris.

I was out cleaning the car yesterday morning and did a once-over to make sure there were no bugs or other shit on the car. I hate driving a dirty car and all of this green pollen shit floating around sucks ass.

Later I was driving out to a buddy's house and I noticed that there was a truck two cars in front of me that was carrying a flatbed full of sand. This jackleg didn't have sides or a back to his trailer and it didn't have a tarp to secure the sand. The sand was in a big fucking pile and was blowing everywhere. We are talking a mobile sandblaster. The shit was flying everywhere. I floored it and passed the vehicle(s) and got to my destination. I later checked the front and there is a chip the size of a quarter on the fascia. Motherfucker!! Now, I know sandman didn't do it but the damage wasn't there earlier.

So, in conclusion I would like to say to the Gen 3 owners that I feel your pain as this is not the first I have heard of 'thin paint' syndrome.

I would also like to point out that I will be repainting the beast in about a month or so after my little home theater project (one project at a time). The new color will be SSG with black diamond stripes (wide) with an '08 hood. All emblems will be removed and reapplied via airbrush and will also be black diamond. The stripes will run through the license plate area ('96 GTS) and possibly will match the driver/passenger mirrors to the stripe color. Also accompanying the new paint will be some sort of iforged 18/19 combo black with a polished lip. I figured the whole process will take about a month. I am taking every panel off the car to paint (except to top, of course). The paint will be slick and it will have a little extra clear on the front. I might add a clear bra to the front as well. My buddy has a Murci and it has the clear bra and a person doesn't even notice it until pointed out.

Clear bra will definitely work. Also have your painter use a flexable clear formula. it'll give a little bit more then the standard clear coat formula. excessive clear will only make a rock chip deeper.
