Not only that. You have to take it to the DMV for a visual inspection. I bought my FGT from Maryland, and it was a pain in the arse to register it in Cali.
I dont see why I'd have to have it inspected at the DMV after a smog tech has already signed off on it. Its a brand new car. Never had to do that with any of my other cars.

That is what I, and many others had to do. They don't care if it's smogged. They need to see the stickers showing it is 50 state complaint, and they need to check VIN #'s and everything. Maybe it is different in SoCal, but I can not see why. It's only a 5 minute inspection.

Yeah my bad, i wasent thinking about how it was brought into Cali from another state. Where's this 50 state complaint sticker you speak of?
umm ok now ya really lost me... What certificate???
The certificate of origin. It is like a pink slip, from the manufacturer. If the car has never been titled, then that is what you will have instead of a pink slip. Pinks are only issued after the car is titled. You may or may not have one depending on how much of the paperwork your dealer is doing for you.

the dealership is doing all the paperwork. All i gotta do is have a smog and have the dmv fill out some paper that the dealership sent to me for the inspection.
