It's a sweet ride...but seriously does anyone know anyone who has actually paid $225k for a viper? The funniest part about JH's pricing is that whenever his cars are featured in a magazine the price goes up $5k. After his viper beat the veyron the price went to $250k...but has since resumed its normally absurd price of $225k.
What I find the most humerous in all of this is that the viper is incapable of using the 500hp it came with in almost all normal street conditions, I would love to see how one of these cars actually is able to be used ON THE STREET. All of these would be wrecked in the first day if you tried to tap into gears 1-3 with any type of agression.
It's more fun driving true performance cars to the limit that are capable of it, than just throwing loads of un-usable power into an already un-stable set up. I don't know about you but I have never driven my viper on an air strip with sticky tires...and don't plan on doing so. I also know that even though my viper is faster on paper - there are many cars that have a MUCH easier time putting the power down that can beat me in most real world driving conditions. The new Nissan GTR will smoke any viper in real world driving conditions. I would even say the new AMG C63 could beat a viper in a red light drag for 95% of the drivers out there.
All the power to JH for building such a beast.....but the very premise of a viper with this much power when it can't really use the power it has....seems all very silly
Just for the sake of the Devil's advocate scenario lets say you have two guys selling computers. One guy sells them for twice as much as the other guy. He does half the work and makes the same profit. John has always had a knack for the marketing side of things.
I know he makes a good product...but I still feel like JH will never recover his reputation after all of the people he screwed over many times over. It's all public record all of the better business buruea claims against him.
I had one experience ordering from him. Spent $4k on a front end which he later offered to me for $3k without knowing I was the same person...and when the thing arrived it was simply sitting on my front lawn in bubble wrap...no box or anything. The piece was littered with cracks and I had to spend $2k just re-fabricating it just so it would fit on the car...of which I was only refunded $300.
You may call this great marketing....I call it poor ethics and a bad long term substanable business sense. I'm all for pissing off the competition by making a better product, but pissing off your customer base?

You have obviously never driven a well done TT Viper. Their power is more than usable on the street.

Sure it is...where is it all usable? On a empty stretch of highway already going 80mph?.....thrown in some turns and hard braking....the the thing would get toasted by a GTR with half the power.

I've booted more than 800 RWHP from around 30 or 40 with NO issues whatsoever. It's no harder to drive than a regular Viper, it just has more power up top. A competent driver in a regular Viper would be fine with a TT. Its called having control of your right foot.

Save me the TT sales pitch. I have seen all the TT Viper runs and they are the most violent runs I have ever seen...controlled caos at best...and on a sticky track with slicks.
So what exactly is the point of TT your viper if you are unable to nail the accellerator....bottom line is the GRIP on the car is NOT improving...you are just adding forces that work against it more....the biggest problem with the viper is that it has trouble hooking up and putting the power down in its normal form....sure its fun...but it doesnt lead to consistent numbers on the street.
I'm sorry but I would rather have a 500-600hp Viper that I could drive all out...than a 1000hp version that I have to baby the throttle to keep it on the road. There is NO WAY you can punch a 1000hp viper in 2nd gear going 30mph and not have the thing break loose

Marketing and business practices shouldn't be confused. Marketing is about image and brand recognition. Business practices deal with the customers individually and taking care of their needs. Every customer should be your most important customer.
I'm not a mud slinger so I'm going to bow out of this convo now due to the volatile destination this conversation would invariably lead to.

Vipers hook up fantastically on the street...much better than other cars that are similar, like Supras, Z06s ect... I nailed the car in second at 30-40 MPH and had not an issue. Go watch Rich when he nails his car around the same speed. If you aren't man enough to handle the power, a GTR is probably a better car for you. Personally, I like cars that actually have some soul to them and aren't appliances.
