Educate me please..

I want everyone to know first off that I don't know anything about these cars. Honestly I have been a chevy man my entire life until recently. I have always owned trucks and my last one ended up being a lemon. After having to file suit against GM to get my money back and treated fairly I vowed never to buy a GM product again.

On to my questions. I am looking to buy a used srt-10. Something like a 2005 or 2006. I want to drive this car every day. I know there are people who do this and I also know there are people who advise against this. My question is how reliable are these cars? On the truck froums there are post after posts about people's different problems. I haven't found any on this website and I have looked a good bit. Forgive me if I havn't looked in the right place.

What is the practicality of driving this car every day?

Thanks

You can add a Paxton and it still would be troublefree.

I don't think looking at a Viper will bring you many first hand experiences over at the Truck Stop.

Ha ha. Yea probably not but I don't spend much time there. I had almost 60K in that chevy dually and used it to haul cars. Now that fuel is going up and my truck was bought back I decided while I am young it is time for me to get a car I can really enjoy. I plan on having it a couple of years and getting rid of it. I always dreamed of getting a corvette but I willl be going with an srt-10. I know there isn't any car company who wants to buy a car back but on a $55K truck and less than 10,000 miles on it I think it is obvious they should have bought it back when I couldn't even drive it. Glad it is all over with though but they lost my business for life.

Thanks a lot for the quick reply.

It all depends on you. If you are a true car guy you will love driving it every day. The great thing about vipers is that they are an exotic car that is reliable and low maintainance. (Let me qualify that.) In my experience I have driven my viper for two years as a daily driver and had no serious problems. The only time I had problems was when I took the car in to the dealer to have any work done on it. The dealers around my area SUCK!!! I now take my car to my local viper tuner for all the work it needs and it is virtually trouble free. I have almost 40k miles on my viper now. I would not trade it for anything. It is no longer my daily driver but if it had more seats it would be. You will have to get used to driving the car for a while. They can be feel cramped and because they are so low to the ground they can be tough to get out of. That stuff doesnt bother be at all. The car is just too damn much fun.
I had a viper for a while and got sick of the above things and sold it. I bought an M3. I had the M3 for about six months and got bored. I went and looked at the 911 turbo and the Corvette and was disappointed. I just cant find anything more fun than the viper. I sold the M3 and bought another viper. My friend sold his viper to get a lambo. Then he drove the lambo and is now looking for another viper. Once you get used to the viper nothing will keep you attention again. Then you will start to mod it and that becomes and addiction. There is no car out there that is like the viper. Good luck! If you are a true "Driver" you will love this car. (Dont sell it, you will regret it.)

Im glad I got mine. Best car Ive owned. It has been trouble free for 2 years and 15k miles. Only problems I have is self inflicted from tracking it or driving it hard. Otheriwse I feel Vipers are pretty well built and bulletproof if treated right.

Id still always recommend a extra car, even a beater just in case you need to run errands or something.

I think they are very nice too. What do you like so much about yours? I love the fact that nobody has one where I live. It is a small town of 14,000 people and it is a wealthy place. Big chevy dealership outside of town and everybody has corvettes. Only 2 Z06's in town but I would like to be the first to have a viper. Glad to know that you guys are enjoying them and they seem to be reliable.
