Big Daddy "Viper"

I've recently been approached by some of my friends in Drag Racing that they would be interested in working w/Dodge on a "Malone/Garlits or Big Daddy" Viper...It would be a special edition specifically built for more of a Drag Racing type set up...
What do you guys think???? Art and Gar would both like to do this..I can't get Damn Dodge to return my calls...

I don't see Dodge going with something that hardcore, especially with their current financial issues, but your buddies can always start their own company and make the car. Win a few races and gain some rep, they will have customers. That's my take on it.

They won't...if you go to the "Legends of Mopar" Gar's pic is featured..they feel they've done enough for Mopar and want a joint venture....I'm jus a gopher, in these deals...but I thought Dodge given their financial situation and the run to 2011 ending, would jump at it...

At least a damn return phone call...I advised I was calling on "Garlits/Malone" behalf...????

Hard to say...maybe not enough youngsters know of Garlits and Malone to go that route.

I'd pick someone a little more 'today', maybe from NASCAR-which seems to be what the manufacturers are more into these days.


I think I read Garlits was just involved in some crate engine Hemi dragster build up thing-and I was drag racing in the 60's so it's not like I don't know who they are and all.


That'd be a little like bringing out a Dick Landy Challenger edition, or Tommy Grove Mustang edition. Wrong era.

I think it would be a great idea for a limited production Viper, the current ACR is a road racing version. No one has more history with drag racing history than the two of them. The problem is find the right ear at Dodge that understands the relevance of what someone is trying to do for them.


FE065 I have never heard of Dick Landy or Tommy Grove. But Garlits and Malone is to drag racing as Carol Shelby is to cars, they are living legends.

My thoughts exactly..I never heard of them either..maybe we've been sniffing NITRO to long.......
I spoke w/Art and he and Gar are all for it..HOWEVER, I'VE MADE SO MANY EFFORTS AND I CAN'T SEEM TO GET DODGE INTERESTED...IT'S INCREDIBLE!!!
Yes, they are older names, but they have done alot for MOPAR..when Garlits gets out on the track, the fans go nuts..walking through the pits w/Art fans and current Drivers are shouting out "Go Colonel"...They still have a following...

Funny how you mentioned Carol Shelby..He and Art are very good friends frm the INDY 500 days...They want to get this done or at least to the table...
I know for a fact Gar, IS DYING TO RACE AGAIN!!!!..sponsers won't look his way..amazing....SPONSERS ARE LOOKING FOR DIVERSITY OR GENDER DIFFERENT DRIVERS!!!!!!!!!!!
