Like I mentioned on the other board. An 08 Viper has already run 1:29.6 at WSIR. The owner of the car is on this board, however, he wasn't driving. The same driver runs 1:29's in his 06 coupe. WSIR is a definite HP track, BUT keeping the car planted through turns 2 and 8 are the key to fast lap times there. The Aero package that the ACR enjoys is great for turns 2 & 8 however it is a parachute for the long front straightaway. I drove the same 08 car today while out at Viper Days (but not on track) and the car pulls incredible. It pulls every bit as hard as my race car (with built motor) Dodge really did their homework on the 08 and I agree that the ACR will be a great track day car. Yes, 3 seconds at WSIR is an eternity.

Wow that is impressive. .Also considering how much lighter your race prepped Viper is ..

Can anyone make a guess what the 08 ACR would run at Buttonwillow? My friend with an Evo keeps bragging about how a race prepped Evo 8 has the track recond there, or at least according to a superstreet magazine...

Would depend on what configuration was used. Buttonwillow has 20+ track configurations that are run.
Makara, my car was factory fresh, 1,000 break in miles. I had the weak kneed pack installed at Cragin's for extra weight. Roll bar, belts, fire extinguisher and stainless brake lines. It is on stock, heavy wheels and tires with 275 PS2s on the front. It had a mild alignment done then. It has a more agressive alignment now. The 1:29 driver at Willow was Terry R. Me, they timed with a sundial.
When cars are going as fast as Vipers one one thousand two one thousand three one thousand is a LONG time. Imagine how badly a viper walks all over a stock fox body mustang in the quarter. Thats like 3 seconds. Every time you pull out of a corner you're drag racing until you enter the next a corner so you can brake as late as possible. Through the corner how the whole car is set up affects how well it puts down power and sheds speed.
Three seconds is a TON of time for what equates to suspension, braking, and body mods without touching the engine at all.
Wow that's impressive. I'd really like to see one with a set of R6's or A6's on it. I picked up about two seconds at Putnam Park last year switching to A6's from R6's. It sounds like there is still some speed to be had out of the ACR. Damn impressive though.

What car were you at Putnam? I was there and walked around and talked to nearly everyone.
I've never ran the sport cups but I know going from stock run flats on a c6 z06 to hoosier r6's is a easy 3 seconds. But I'm comparing times to a larger track like thunder hill where lap times are over 2 min. I guess for a short track that's not too bad. Still I would think with the downforce, lighter brakes, shocks and tires that it would have been more.
Have you ever run WSIR Darius? Only tracks faster are Road America and maybe VIR. The 220 treadwear rating vs. an 80 treadwear is definately big as far as grip goes. The big difference at WSIR is the suspension and especially aero on the ACR. Hugely fast sweepers and carrying speed out of #8 into #9 and then the front straight is key. That being said I could easily beat a 1:29.33 in an ACR at WSIR, Terry Rossi already turned a 1:29 flat in a stock '08 coupe needing alignment tweeks.
Willow Springs is 2.5 miles, T-hill is 3 miles but it is a slower track like Buttonwillow which is also 3 miles in Conf. #1, 2:00 is tough. I ran them both many times. WSIR is an easy track to drive being only 9 turns, compared to 23 at BW an 19 at T-hill, but it is difficult to drive WSIR fast. Takes lotsa seat time and huge cajones to drive WSIR fast.

Treadwear rating wise the R6's are a 40 while the Cups are 80 not a huge difference, I'd like to see some Comp Coupe Hoosiers on the ACR.
