A 2003 SRT10 is only 3380 pounds and they routinely trapped 120-123 mph...The 3200 pound 2007 C6Z06 routinely trapps 122-125 mph......
Theirs only a 3 mph differance in the 1/4 mile between a 2003 SRT10 vert and a 2007 C6Z06...
The numbers that everyone gets hung up over is the 2006 3140 pound C6Z06 vs the 2006 3440 pound SRT10 coupe...
The lighter 2006 C6Z06 ( 3140 pounds) routinely trapped 123-126 mph VS the heavier 2006 SRT10 coupes ( 3450 pounds) 119-122....
So yea a 3140 pound 2006 Z06 VS a 2006 3450 pound coupe SRT10 and your talking about a 4 mph differance and a 310 weight advantage for the C6Z06...
But a 2007 C6Z06 at 3200 pounds vs a 2003 SRT10 vert at 3380 pounds and now your only talking a 180 pound advantage for the C6Z06 and 3 mph differance in the 1/4 mile tops......
How much rwhp do you think a SRT10 really needs to make up 3 mph????You figure I was around 445 rwhp stock and now have around 370 plus rwhp....
So yea in the case of a 07 Z06 VS a 03 Viper just a few bolt ons will have the viper their....
But a 2006 Z06 VS a 2006 coupe and the Viper will need a bit more...
that's not neccesarily the case. If you take into consideration that each Z06 dyno's anywhere from 430-460.. If you have a 06 Z that is only putting down 430 and weighs 100+/- lbs. it wouldn't matter.
Think about it..The 2006's were 3130 pounds in some mags..And they trapped 125-127 mph in pretty much all the test...ONE-HUNDRED-TWENTY-SEVEN-MPH...
Whens the last time you saw a test of a 2007 or 2008 Z06 even hit 126 mph? They seem to top off around 125 mph....
The 2007's and 2008's are 3200 PLUS pounds depending on options....
The Z06 isnt a power horse when it comes to tourque and relies on it's light weight to get it going fast..
ASK big turnos what happenned several times on the freeway when we both had passangers....He weighs around 50 pounds more than me and my passanger weighs around 30 pounds more than his...So the weights were pretty even...
But the Viper pulled the c6Z06 pretty good on all these runs....If a 150 pound passanger in the Z06 made that much of a differance even though my Viper also had a passanger of 180 pounds...Well imagie what the 70 plus pounds that the 2007's and 2008's gained over the 06's did...
BTW..When we both didnt have passangers BigTurbos was pulling me by 1-2 cars from 70-140....Then after we both added passangers that same night and even though my passanger was a lil heavier...It was exactly the opposite. I was pulling him by 1-2 cars....
The 500 rwt of the Viper dosent react to differantly to added weight. But even just the 70 pounds the Z06 gained made it a bit slower....

hahah.. I wouldn't worry to much about it.. if you drop a "tornado" off at the pool, I'm sure you'll go faster.
But seriously.. it's true. The weight for the Z is a huge factor. Hell..if I did the atkins diet and wore cellophane all day.. I'm sure I could make the Z faster than Tornado's by at least a few mph's and a tenth.

No you didnt get screwed...It's still a 125 mph trapping car and it handles better. You just aint gonna see no 127-129 mph trapps like the 3130 pound 2006 can do....
No 2008's even on the list unfortunetly..And since it's rumored that the 2008's are even a little heavier than the 2007's ( thanks to better steering/shifter right?) you likely wont see any...
A 3380 pound SRT10 vert is a competitor for a 2008 C6Z06..Now your talking roughly only a 150 pound differance and probally 2.5 mph advantage for the 08 Z06 in the 1/4 mile.....
Id personally pick up a 06Z06 if I ever went that route

or what you could do.. is buy the white and blue with gears and bolt ons and have someone help you race both cars.
If I buy the one in NY with gears, bolt-ons, and NOS, it will kill my Z.
It should definitely be a 10 second car on spray, and low 11's on motor.
The other B&W should turn a low 11 as well.
I'm waiting on the headers for the Z which should be any day now, and I'm estimating an 11.5 this time around now that my tune in the computer is working properly, although an 11.3 would be nice to see.
Mike I have the 1lz which should be a little, lighter plus I'm only 190lbs. My local track has a few drag events coming up I'll take the Z and we'll compare times.
Here's my suggestion... upgrade the brakes, driveline and suspension on BOTH cars and take it to a road course if there is one out there. THAT is where real deal skill is measured.

Tornado beat the inexperienced Z06 driver from a dig and lost to him from a roll in his modded Viper.
If this driver is competent, Tornado would get beat from a dig and even more so from a roll (no offense, Bigturbos, but you need practice... With 2 competent, equally skilled drivers, it would take MORE than 20 rwhp for the Viper to be even with the Z06. Like ALWAYS, I will offer ANY MI located stock 03-06 Viper to a race from a roll and from a dig against my Z06 before I put my mods on it.
And as far as the 06's beng faster than all other models, we will see. I ran an 11.5 in my 06 Z06 @ 125 mph, and I will drag my 08 when I get it before I get my cam package on it. I will be running it on the same track (but more than likely, different conditions).
