Just got back from the 1/4 mile. Here is the short report (the longer report, pics and videos are coming later):
1. 2008 Viper SRT10 convertible. 100% stock engine, airbox, suspsension.
2. Mods: Hennessey long tube 1 7/8 stainless steel headers with Burns collectors flowing through full 3 inch. stainless exhaust with mufflers and no cats. Also ran with Stoptech cross drilled rotors which save about 8 lbs per corner.
3. Car dyno'd 608 rw hp SAE on the Dynojet a few days ago.
4. 93 octane pump gas - about a 1/2 tank.
5. Car was run at full weight which was 3462 lbs with fuel and no driver.
6. First 4 passes were on BFG 345/18 drag radials running about 15 psi.
7. All of the drag radial runs were in the 10's with some tire spin and wheel hop.
8. Air temps started around 50 deg. and ended at about 56 deg. Track was cold. Track prep was OK but not great as we ran out of VHT today. I need to give the track owner a hard time about this as he should have been better prepared for us....
9. First run was 10.91 @ 133 mph, 2nd run was 10.83 @ 132 mph, 3rd run was 10.77 @ 133 mph and 4th run was 10.91 @ 131 mph. The best 60 ft. was the 10.77 run with a 1.77 short time.
10. Switched over to the street tires and aired them down to 15 psi. Got way more wheel hop and tire spin on these.
11. Best run on the street tires was the first run at 11.33 @ 135.2 mph! That speed is shockingly fast. Next run was 11.4 @ 133 mph. 3rd run was 11.8 @ 133 mph and the traction had pretty much gone away. So we didnt make any more runs.
OK, there you have it. First time for a stock motor 2008 Viper with bolt-on headers, exhaust, rotors and drag radials goes some solid 10's.
The 2008 Viper is one impressive package all the way around. I am sure this is just the begining.
More info. later on. I am tired and want to go watch some football.
Way to go for being the first to get some solid information on the 08's. I am sure you will be getting a ton of phone calls for some mods.
10's with nothing but a few bolt-ons is NUTS. The 08's are definitely more impressive than I thought they were going to be.
I want to see some more street tire times for these cars. WANTED talked a whole lot of crap about running this car into the 10's bone stock. I don't really believe it, but I would love to see someone try.
Wow! Great times for such small mods and first time out! And the great thing is you can cross the street nextdoor to the road course and take care of business there too. I'm really liking this 08 car quite a bit... enough to make up for the Gen 3 looks.
Good reports... thanks.

I have faith in wanted. He took a Gen I into the 11s IIRC. That is damned impressive
Great runs, John. Just a few questions.. How's the clutch feel? Did you ever get it to slip? And how's the diff feel? I know the 3rd gen diff was capable of giving you a heart attack at times by stepping out violently on a quick 1-2 shift. Well, okay, one more. How does the new trans feel compared to the old?
135.2MPH Trap Speed...on a completely stock motor and ECU says it all. Just exhaust bolt-ons. I'd love to see what a great driver like "Ranger or Jamie Furman" can do on a well-prepped sea level track like MIR or Englishtown...
Any chance of running the car with stock exhaust, headers, tires, wheels, etc or returning it to its bone stock condition for a few runs? This would give the car a "true" stock number. Otherwise, it will be the same ol' story of "its not stock". Excellent times given the limited mods, this car is a beast!
Lets not blow this out of poportion..The 10's and 135 mph trapp is awesome...
BUT IT WONT STOCK
The Z06 has ran a 10.9x at 130 mph 100% bone stock guys on the oem tires.....Thats what we need to beat...
I honestly wish Hennessy would have ran the car dead stock before touching it. I realize that as a buisness owner having its products tested and installed first was very important. But some dead stock numbers would have been a nice comparo..
With that being said i now beleave that an average guy is gonna be trapping 127-130 mph in these new snakes..And that the 10.9x at 130 done by the Z06 will be beaten with 30 buisness days..
So alls well

Tornado, the stock times will be done by somebody else. The purpose of Hennessey's research is to indicate the potential of the new Viper with easy, relatively inexpensive bolt ons.

How soon can you get a couple snails on there to start tweaking the new VVT?
But I'm sure that's the question of the century and off topic, but hey... as long as the '08 is still a ton more mod friendly than the Vette EVERYONE here will be happy
the 135 trap means that there is a MUCH lower ET in that car.
Don't forget that it was on the street tires when this was accomplished. When you spin more out of the hole, it can increase the trap speed. Truly something that can increase the MPH numbers and is not necessarily an exact indication of what HP the car is making. It seems that ~132-133 seems to be fairly consistent.

Anybody that has one and willing to use up some of the tires to be the first...give me a call. It (like the other records) needs to be at a good track, good elevation and GOOD air. I will fly in and play
