Well, if Heffner says a stock vette can make that hp and go that fast ... I'll step down from this arguement.

I also assume that a stock Viper would have set records as well, had there been one there? At least that;s the way I'm reading it now.

For the 50th time....considering the paranormal dream conditions, the very capable driver who's a veteran in drag racing, and the well prepped track...it's not THAT unbelieveable!? What's the big deal? A Viper on that same day would of broken records with Jamie behind the wheel as well...

My PS calculator says your Viper should be going about 11.1 -.2. Your MPH should indicate some wheel spin? Street tires? Or are you going 10's with slicks?

Nerd? Thanks, but a PS calculator is just a tool for setting up your car for the drag strip. Any idiot that can run a drag car can use it. It just show hp produced for a setting of ET or speed so that you can adjust your suspension for optimium traction, etc. It's just a drag tool for adjusting your drag car.

It's set-up like a slide rule, except it only does ci. spped, ET, hp, etc. Probably don't sell them anymore because they don't have settings fof OD.

Sorry Jason, but 130mph in the 1/4 is not possible for a 505bhp car @ 3130 WITH driver. Something has been tweeked on the car....or this is "another" case of a factory vette making the rated bhp at the rear wheels.

I agree. Ive wondered about manufacturers claims. Ever since I had a "STOCK" Camaro Z28 rated at 305hp, dyno 303rwhp. Makes you wonder.....

I know there are new tests done to rate power, but I bet you can tweak, fake, pay-off whatverer and get a bunch of freak cars out there. This would maybe apply to that thread of the guy with a New Z06 that he got direct from Chevy marketing and it beat a S/C Paxton Viper SRT.
As much as I dont want to take away credit to a skilled driver, its too easy for guys to pull tricks. Thats why theres always motor pulls in racing. Theres alot of ways to cheat. Sure would have been nice to see that car dyno'd that same day.

Not that anyone cares about my opinion, but I wouldnt believe a story unless I saw the car taken off the dealer lot and to track myself. I also know for a fact that those times would never happen here in California. Either way , great times, now lets get a " stock " Viper out there and see what it does.

97 GTS, i have hoosier A6 tires now. i had P-zero tires and got a 1.72 60'. They stopped the races twices that day from it raining. i'm hoping for 1.5's 60' times on a better day.

What mods were done to your 97' on the 11.1 runs?? And to your memory, what were the conditions? (i.e. temp, pressure, DA, etc..)

PS; ...I've been hearing A LOT about these Hoosier A6 tires and their great grip. Can these tires be used on the street as well?? I know they have very little grip and my friend runs the Hoosier R6's which are practically a race tire/slick. But these are said to get up to temprature a lot faster and I hear of lots a people driving their Viper on these tires on the street often....is it a practical street tire? Will 170+ MPH warp these tires on a summer day? Thanks.

I was there, his car is bone stock. The track and conditions were absolutely perfect. I ran an 11.06 @ 129.77 w/1.71 60 ft, in my Gt2, (ECU flash and exhaust) on street tires (MPS2's). I am putting out around 530 to 540 hp to the crank and weigh about 100 lbs more than Jamie's Z (per factory specs) who stock is at 505 to hp the crank. So we are very close in HP and weight. He ran a 10.98 @ 128.90 on stock runflats. The temp that day was 45 degrees with a dew point of 15. Never the less, Jamie is a hell of a driver. He ran a 11.2 on the same track in 95 degree heat and humid conditions.

The guy is a true car enthusiast that actually loves all cars and driving them fast. He did run his Gt2 (ECU flash and exhaust) on drag radials and clocked a 10.83 last month on a 60 degree day. Unfortunately, we didn't get the entire 6Z06 run, or the 10.98 run on video because the videotape was made by a 6speedonline forum member who brought a video camera to video his 11 second Benz and decided to video a couple of runs by Jamie and I. This is the video of his 10.83 @ 130.05 w/ 1.70 60 ft, on drag radials that he clocked later that same day.

We are both anticipating the release of the new Viper ACR, great conditions at MIR should make for an interesting day. Jamie's got the slips for both those record runs and I've got the slip for my 11.06 run and a video of my Gt2 running an 11.18 and 11.20 before I clocked the 11.06, but I don't think you guys would be interested in those.

This is the typical, "If I can't do it, it can't be done" knee jerk response. Give good driving credit when credit is due, regardless of the car. If you ever met Jamie you would never question his veracity or his driving skills. Heffner will quickly vouch for this guy and so will I.

Listen to these guys, Jamie has enough credibility in the car community both as a general car enthusiast and a driver to remove any speculation. I can see people questioning the runs if it was some random individual who posted an announcement of his incredible runs, but there's proof to back it up. He had the timeslips, he had people there watching, he had a signature from the track manager approving his timeslip, and he has friends like Jason to back up his accomplishment. Not only that but it's not like this is the first Z06 to run these kind of numbers, it's just the lowest thus far. Obviously Ranger has run similar numbers with his Z06 with a ton of documentation that up as well.

Additionally, I don't like crunching numbers on the internet, but use some logic and put some thought in to the circumstances. Anyone who knows anything about Z06's is that they do not dyno at the stock rating. 505hp is laughable considering most dyno 445-460rwhp. So let's assume Jamie's is one of the stronger cars out of the factory any dynoes at 460rwhp. Now add to this the factor of Density Altitude being -1200ft, which I'm not sure exactly how much power this adds to an N/A motor, but let's assume an extra 10hp for a total of 470RWHP. Add to that, great gearing in stock form plus an extremely skilled driver and I think you'll find that 10.9 is not impossible. Even the garbage little online 1/4 calculators give roughly that result with the numbers I suggested. Of course this is just internet racing, but it seems many of you 'speculators' are relying on number crunching internet theory anyways.

Cheers,
