After a few baseline pulls on the dyno today I accidentally bumped the OBD-2 data cord while doing a re-flash upgrade and it interupted the upload which froze the ECM......all options failed...so had to order a new ECM which will be in Monday.
My question is.......the service manual says i have to have the VIN and milage uploaded into the ECM.....will the car start so i can drive it around before this is done or am i going to have to have it towed to the dealer 1st ?? Its still sitting on the dyno now....and i was going to just re-install it there and finish the upload?
P.S.....baselined at 455 whp/ 481 wTQ on a DynoJet- "Corsa +K&N's" does this sound about right?
In April I changed from the stock ECU to the Mopar REC and was told by one dealer that I had to pay $45 and have the vin and miles (flashed) to the new REC before it (car) would work. Then was told by a different dealer that I didn't has to ASAP and just have it done when I come in next. Well 6 months/2000 miles later no issues. So, mine has worked just fine with out the vin/miles uploaded.
Your RWHP/TQ look to be on the higher end of normal.
I just talked to a service tech at a dealer today and he told me the car is going to fire up and then shut back off and won't run until it gets the Vin and milage upload at a price of $32....so.....i guess i'm going to have to find out this week.....not quite sure now what to think now. I just don't want to have to pay the tow to the dealer.
well, the mileage should be stored in the skim, not the pcm. and to put the vin on the pcm, they have to have the skim send it to the pcm (using the drbIII), atleast as far as i understand the current dodge pcm.
I really do not know. I switched to the Mopar REC, the Mopar race exhaust and the Mopar Blue intake filters. I was told its good for aprox. 35hp/35tq. SOTP feel? -- a little. The exhaust, alot louder. It would have been nice to have done a before and after.
Maybe someone else can chime in here to help. The dealer told me the same thing. But they were very wrong.

Well my ECM mishap is now over......installed the brand new one yesterday and to my suprise the viper fired right up and did not shut off like i was told by the dealer.....just proving that most local service techs don't know their ass from a hole in the ground about the viper.
I 1st drove it around and then went back to the dealer to get the VIN uploaded into new ECM at a cost of $38.....then drove it back to the dyno to finish the session.
Did a DynoJet baseline to the tune of 456hp/482tq........then uploaded Roe Racing's SCT flash and then ran 3 more pulls off......with the 3rd laying down 466hp/507tq......with a heathly 35ft.lb gain at 4200rpm......from 3500 to 5000 there was a consistant 20-30 hp/tq gain. The A/F ratio was drastically different from the stocker.....the car now goes rich right away down low(about 12.5-13.0) and starts leaning out right at peak Tq A/F read (13.4) then runs to redline at roughly 12.8-13.0.....much different than the stock 11.5 to 1 at redline.....a much better tune with healthy gains all over the TQ curve. Not bad for just and intake, cat-back and reflash.

Your fuel mileage should go up too! Sounds like you should also do well against Z06s with your little added pop.
Ya....i think your right about the fuel milage......seat of the pants feel....the car seems a bit more responsive going under full throttle under highway roll on speeds in 4th or 5th.....that may help a bit against the Z06....because i have been about a car length back with a local '07 vette up to about 130.
As far as the SCT queston......how far will it let you get with the re-flash process??
1st......it will save and store your stock program
2nd.....it will delete your stock program so it can now be re-flashed
3rd......it will upload the your 93 octane Roe tune that you select
Final.... it will say SUCCESS!! when complete so you know for sure it worked
What happend with my mis-hap is i bumped the OBD-2 cord and it came loose during the 3rd step....which was writing the Roe Tune....that never transfered vital info to the ECM so the car could start....so it froze the ECM.....bought the new ECM and finished no problem...so be carful when uploading!
Does you GTS start and run??? If so, what screen does it let you go to until it won't go further?? Will it read the VIN and trouble codes?? What Battery Voltage does it display??
its a anti theft modual. a key is programed into it (chiped key) and it also holds a Vin. its so some one cant just pull a junkyard ecm, and get the car to start. the numbers have to match.
I dyno'd with just corsa and Hi flow cats, put down 466 rwhp.
After I removed cats and installed a DC performance computer, I dyno'd 487 rwhp and had about 40+ hp gains in midrange.
So your numbers sound about right. I think DC Performance has been Getting better numbers then Roe from the few posts Ive seen. But then again all cars and dyno's are different.
I'm debateing right now wheater to go high flow cat or none at all when i install a header........i can cancel the check engine codes now but what do you recommend....and as far as emissions....how am i going to pass where i live
