I know Mellon by reputation only, but from what I gather he is a more then competent driver. I wouldn't race his Evo from a dig and expect to win unless I had a nice long road.
No, my car is not stock which makes it even harder to launch. No BS at all. Have you ever driven a 996TT?
Usually, if one's preferred car got edged by a non-preferred car, it's real easy to blame it on something else like driver error, or the car is not running right, etc. The ones who give all the excuses are the ones who usually don't know anything about the car they're talking about.
I agree, most Viper owners can't launch properly, but watch out for those who can. Especially, one with a modded snake.
Here's another real world video how great (or not so great) a 4 wheel drive system is. The P-Car was modified, and sporting BFG's on all 4 corners. It should have gained a car or 2 off the line, but it didn't.

cool video and clearly the viper owner knows how to tame a snake but i'm not sure that was a good representation of what you can do with AWD, looks like the porsche nosed over and bogged it. I've yet to see a porsche owner launch one good at the track lol.
1.67 60' on bald street tires spinning
11.91 @ 114mph
the mph sucks but it demonstrates that you don't need 120+mph to run 11's if you get a good launch and bang the gears. I was lifting to shift too, I can power shift it but don't want to abuse the tranny to gain a few tenths.

Nice run Mellon. I didn't think anyone would show with it as cold as it was. Was last night the last test n tune of the season?

It wasn't a good representation of what a good driver can do with a Viper either, that driver was a newbie.

they told me at tech that they were having two more TNT nights this season but online it shows one. I doubt I'll go back out this season. I think I can shave a tenth or two with a little more tuning (ran out of time).
the next mods are:
wider wheels/street tires since traction has become a problem
better blow off valve, the stocker leaks past 25psi
ported intake and 65mm throttle body to improve flow/efficiency
aquamist hsf-5 meth kit
raise boost from 25psi spike to 30+
raise timing 5-10 degrees
lean AFR out from 11.0 to 12.0
the new goal is 10's on meth but it's a tall order for this turbo, if I can't do it the 20g comes out and in goes the 35R turbo which is good for mid 10's @ 135 at best.
The video looks great. What bitrate and resolution was that rendered in?
thanks, I use a Panasonic PV-GS250
I pull the video off the tape in DV quality, I edit and save it as 2mbps 640x480 which makes a 50-100mb file on a 3-10 minute video. It's overkill for my hosting site that steams in flash at 512k or so but I found that if I uploaded a file at that resolution it doesn't look as good in the end. So I upload a high quality 2mbps 640x480 .wmv and let it encode to flash.
I'm just using windows movie maker btw, I used to use vegas video, adobe premier pro etc... and it's just way too time consuming for me lil videos.
I encode .wmv at 3Mb/s and 640x480 and it looks like crap on Streetfire.net and Youtube. They must compress it down more than your hosting site does cause your video looks very good.

youtube and google video are crap after encoding, streetfire has the player window too big.
my site encodes at the same resolution as streetfire and I'm partnered with them so your logon will work on my sites..the difference is that the player window is smaller so it isn't stretched and blurry.
try vipervideo if you need something hosted and 3mbps is a bit overkill probably since mine looks good with 2mbps.
just realized something I missed the other night at the track, at 6500 I pulled some timing because I had some minor knock cropped up when the real problem was a tiny lean spot. I restored 2* of timing, added 1 fuel and got my best g-tech run ever on the first try and called it a day:
